Disneyland Resort Responds After Tree Fell on Theme Park Guests

Disneyland Resort is finally taking action after a tree fell near the Plaza Inn in February. Here’s what recently changed at the original Southern California Disney park.

On May 20, WDWNT reported that construction walls had appeared in the outdoor seating area attached to the Plaza Inn at Disneyland Park. The plywood barriers block part of the patio dining area, but not all of it. Fabric-covered metal barriers also block some nearby flowerbeds.

The Plaza Inn remains open and continues serving its full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Character dining is available at breakfast.

Disney cast members told the outlet that Disneyland Resort planned to replace a ficus tree that fell during high winds in Southern California earlier this year. The incident occurred during a Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts Nite event on February 17.

After the tree fell, two Disney Park guests were treated by paramedics onsite for minor injuries. They were not transported to a local hospital. The Disneyland Resort Fire Department and other emergency responders removed the fallen tree from the park.

“My husband and I were the ones hit,” LeWanda Joseph of Las Vegas wrote on Facebook following the incident. “The tree fell directly on top of us…“We had just sat down to take photos at the table when the tree snapped and fell. We’re okay for now. The medical staff came through ASAP.”
