For many Disney guests, the photos end up becoming just as important as the vacation itself.
Years after a trip ends, it’s often the family castle photo, the emotional proposal shot, or the candid sunset picture from a Disney resort that keeps the memories alive. That emotional connection has become a massive part of the modern Walt Disney World experience, especially as guests increasingly document every moment of their vacations through social media, scrapbooks, and digital albums.
Now, fans are noticing Disney may be leaning even further into that trend with a brand-new offering quietly debuting at some of the resort’s most iconic locations.

Disney World Is Expanding Its Premium Vacation Experiences in a New Way
Over the last several years, Walt Disney World has steadily introduced more upscale and personalized offerings aimed at guests willing to pay extra for convenience, exclusivity, and unique memories. From VIP Tours to private fireworks parties and after-hours events, Disney has continued reshaping parts of the vacation experience around premium add-ons.
This latest move follows that same pattern — but with a much more personal focus.

Disney has officially launched “Signature Portrait Sessions,” a new photography experience currently operating as a pilot program at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels. The experience gives guests access to a private 40-minute photography session with professional Disney PhotoPass photographers using professional-grade lighting and camera equipment.
Guests are already reacting to the experience online, especially because of where the sessions are taking place.

Two of Disney’s Most Iconic Resorts Have Become the Centerpiece of the New Offering
The new Signature Portrait Sessions are currently available at only four locations across two highly popular Disney resort destinations:
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
Both resorts have long been fan-favorite photography destinations thanks to their waterfront views, tropical landscaping, elegant interiors, and proximity to Magic Kingdom.
Fans are noticing that Disney appears to be emphasizing luxury aesthetics and curated vacation moments with this rollout. Guests participating in the experience receive a private session with a specially trained Disney PhotoPass Portrait photographer and assistant, along with access to props and professionally retouched images.
According to Disney, most sessions result in roughly 60 edited photos, though the exact number depends on travel time between locations and how many photography spots are visited during the session.
Indoor and outdoor locations are both available, though Disney says photography spots may change depending on weather or resort operations.

The $399 Price Tag Is Already Sparking Conversations Among Guests
The experience costs $399 per session, with full payment required at the time of booking.
That pricing has already become a major point of discussion among Disney fans, especially at a time when many guests are closely watching overall vacation costs. Between rising ticket prices, hotel rates, Lightning Lane purchases, and ongoing construction projects throughout Walt Disney World, some guests are questioning whether premium experiences like this represent the future direction of Disney vacations.
Others, however, see the offering as a meaningful investment — particularly for milestone trips, engagements, anniversaries, or multi-generational family vacations.
Unlike standard Disney PhotoPass interactions inside the parks, these sessions are designed to feel far more personalized and cinematic. Disney says all photos are professionally retouched before delivery and uploaded directly into the guest’s Disney PhotoPass gallery through the My Disney Experience app.
Guests can also bring their own props, provided they comply with Walt Disney World property rules.

Disney Is Quietly Positioning Photography as a Bigger Part of the Vacation Experience
Photography has increasingly become a major part of Disney’s business strategy over the last decade. Social media has transformed how guests experience the parks, with many vacations now built around capturing highly curated moments.
This newest offering appears to push that idea even further.
Fans are already comparing Signature Portrait Sessions to Disney’s existing “Capture Your Moment” service, which offers shorter private photography sessions inside the parks. However, this new resort-based experience feels much more premium and professionally staged.
There are also limitations. Wedding attire is not permitted during Signature Portrait Sessions, with Disney directing wedding photography inquiries to Disney Fine Art Photography and Video instead.
Advance reservations are required, and guests can currently book up to 60 days in advance by emailing DisneyPortraitSessions@disney.com directly. Disney also notes that cancellations made within 24 hours — or no-shows — will result in guests being charged the full amount.

Guests May Be Seeing the Start of a Larger Disney Trend
While Disney describes Signature Portrait Sessions as a pilot program, many fans believe this could be the beginning of a much broader rollout across Walt Disney World Resort.
If demand proves strong, it would not be surprising to eventually see similar photography experiences expand into additional deluxe resorts, seasonal offerings, or even private in-park packages.
For Disney, experiences like this represent something increasingly valuable: personalized memories that guests cannot replicate anywhere else.
And for visitors already investing thousands into a Walt Disney World vacation, Disney may be betting that professionally curated memories become one more experience guests decide is worth adding to the trip.
