Disneyland’s Latest Castle Update Changes Things for Countless Families
The construction situation at Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris Resort has taken a turn this week, and families with trips to the European Disney parks on the calendar need to know what they’re walking into.
The Walls Keep Growing

When construction barriers first appeared around the Sleeping Beauty Castle bridge in early May, Disneyland Paris Resort moved quickly to improve the visual by covering the plywood with printed scrim—a themed wrap designed to preserve at least some of the magic for guests photographing the iconic structure. This week, that slightly more magical appearance changed again.
As of May 18, a fresh set of bare plywood construction walls has appeared at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., extending the construction footprint around Sleeping Beauty Castle further than it has reached at any point during the refurbishment. X user @DLPReport was among the first to flag the expansion on the platform formerly known as Twitter:

X user @PixiedustDLP shared a video showing exactly where the new barriers connect to the older scrim-covered walls:
🚧 🏰 Starting today, there are even more construction walls around Sleeping Beauty Castle. As a result, the parade route will also have to be adjusted. That is probably why the walkway at the entrance to Discoveryland was recently lowered. #disneylandparis #dlp #dlplive

Getting the Parade Through

The expanding construction zone has created a logistical challenge that extends beyond aesthetics. Disney Stars on Parade can no longer follow its usual route through Central Plaza, and Disneyland Paris Resort has already made physical changes to accommodate the detour. A curb in the Central Plaza area has been flattened and reworked to open up a modified corridor for the parade to pass through during the refurbishment period.
@DLPReport shared a photo of the altered curb and explained the reasoning:
🔧 Recent works on this side of Central Plaza have led to the flattening and reworking of this curb. This is to accommodate Disney Stars in Parade which now squeezes into this little corridor while the Sleeping Beauty Castle refurbishment is ongoing.

What Families Can Still Experience

For all the visual disruption, Sleeping Beauty Castle hasn’t been shut down entirely. Disneyland Paris Resort has confirmed that the castle walkthrough and La Tanière du Dragon — The Lair of the Dragon — will remain open for the duration of the project, accessible through alternate entrances. The bridge refurbishment is scheduled to conclude in late September 2026, which means any family visiting Disneyland Park between now and the fall should go in with adjusted expectations for how the heart of the park looks.
