An official weather warning is in effect for the Walt Disney World Resort area right now, and guests currently in the parks are being told to get indoors.
A Storm Already in Motion

At 2:49 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, the National Weather Service Melbourne had Doppler radar locked onto a strong thunderstorm moving east over Bay Lake at 20 miles per hour. Within minutes, the agency issued a formal weather warning for Orange County, Osceola County, and Southern Lake County — covering the full Walt Disney World Resort footprint and the surrounding Central Florida region.
The primary threat is wind. Gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are expected through mid-afternoon, carrying enough force to bring down tree limbs and launch unsecured objects. The National Weather Service is directing anyone outdoors in the affected area to seek shelter inside immediately.

The agency rated the event’s severity as “moderate,” its urgency as “expected,” and its certainty as “observed.” Translation: This storm is not a possibility. It is already happening. The warning specifically named Orlando, Winter Park, Winter Garden, Ocoee, and Kissimmee as areas in the direct path of the system.
Inside the Central Florida Disney Parks Right Now

Guests at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park should follow cast member directions without hesitation and move indoors if instructed to do so. Outdoor attractions across Walt Disney World Resort may be temporarily closed when wind and storm conditions exceed safe operating thresholds.
Thankfully, conditions are forecast to improve by early evening on May 13, which means most guests should be back to a normal theme park experience before the day wraps up.
