Is Disney About to Change Cosmic Rewind? Escalating Guest Behavior Forces Repairs at EPCOT

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind still feels like one of the crown jewels of EPCOT. The coaster remains wildly popular, the standby line stays busy nearly every day, and guests continue ranking it among the best attractions Walt Disney World has ever built.

But recently, a growing number of Disney fans have stopped talking about the ride itself.

Instead, they are talking about the queue.

More specifically, they are talking about the increasingly chaotic behavior happening during the attraction’s teleportation preshow sequence — a situation that recently drew even more attention after a viral TikTok reportedly showed Disney Cast Members replacing broken glass inside the queue area after guests allegedly damaged it during a crowd surge.

The video spread quickly online.

And now, many guests are starting to wonder whether Disney may eventually need to step in and make operational changes to Cosmic Rewind itself.

The Problems Begin After the First Preshow

For guests unfamiliar with the attraction flow, Cosmic Rewind uses two main preshow spaces before riders officially reach the coaster boarding area.

The first room contains a Nova Corps presentation introducing the storyline. After that concludes, guests move into a second chamber where the attraction simulates “teleporting” everyone up to the Nova ship.

This is where the issue begins.

At the end of the teleportation effect, the wall at the front of the room suddenly disappears, revealing the hallway leading toward the loading areas. At the same time, doors open that allow guests to continue forward through the queue.

What should feel like a cool reveal moment has increasingly turned into a rush.

Many guests now intentionally crowd the right side of the room before the sequence even finishes because they believe it gives them an advantage once the wall drops. The moment the reveal happens, large groups often surge forward all at once.

Some people walk quickly.

Others run directly toward the hallway.

And according to countless online reports, pushing and crowding have become increasingly common during the transition.

The viral TikTok involving the broken glass only pushed those concerns further into the spotlight.

Disney Fans Say the Situation Has Become “Out of Control”

The reaction online has been intense.

Many Disney fans say the teleportation room no longer feels immersive because guests are too focused on positioning themselves before the reveal happens. Instead of paying attention to the effects or storyline, people often spend the entire sequence preparing to rush forward.

That creates tension before the wall even opens.

Families with younger children have reportedly struggled to navigate the crowd surges, especially when guests suddenly dart toward the hallway once the opening appears. Several visitors online have described nearly getting bumped or shoved while simply trying to walk normally with the crowd.

Some guests now intentionally stand farther back in the room to avoid the chaos entirely.

Others say they avoid the right side completely because that area tends to become the most aggressive once the teleportation sequence finishes.

Unfortunately, many EPCOT regulars say this behavior is no longer rare.

The viral video involving Cast Members replacing damaged glass simply became the clearest example yet of how aggressive things have started getting.

The Queue Strategy Barely Helps Anyway

Ironically, the rushing does not appear to provide much actual advantage.

Disney still merges guests throughout the queue process before boarding groups are assigned. Racing through the hallway after the teleportation reveal usually changes very little about when someone actually boards the ride.

Still, people continue treating the experience like a competition.

Part of the problem likely comes from crowd psychology. Once a few guests start rushing, others instinctively follow because nobody wants to feel left behind.

That creates an immediate domino effect.

And because Cosmic Rewind remains one of Walt Disney World’s most in-demand attractions, emotions can escalate quickly. Guests spending thousands on Disney vacations often feel pressure to maximize every second of their day.

Unfortunately, that pressure sometimes turns basic queue transitions into complete chaos.

Could Disney Eventually Adjust Operations?

Right now, Disney has not announced any changes to the Cosmic Rewind preshow or loading procedures.

But many fans believe the company may eventually need to rethink how guests move through the teleportation room if the behavior continues escalating.

Some visitors think Disney could stagger groups more carefully after the wall reveal. Others believe Cast Members may eventually need to hold guests stationary until the hallway fully clears. A few fans have even suggested physical barriers or additional queue dividers to stop crowd surges near the right side of the room.

At minimum, many guests want stricter enforcement against running.

Because while Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains an incredible attraction, many Disney fans feel the queue experience itself is slowly becoming one of the most stressful parts of visiting EPCOT.

And that is not something most people associate with Disney parks.

The attraction should feel thrilling because of the coaster itself — not because guests are bracing for crowd surges during the teleportation sequence.

No family should feel pressured to sprint through a preshow room just to keep up with the crowd.

And no Disney queue should escalate to the point where Cast Members reportedly need to replace broken glass because guests became too aggressive trying to get ahead.
