Disney World Issues Warning as Massive 8-Month Refurbishment Hits “Value” Resort

Planning a Disney World trip on a budget usually starts with one question: which value resort should you pick? That decision just got a bit more complicated. One of Disney’s most popular affordable hotels is about to undergo a long refurbishment that will last close to 8 months, and Disney has already posted a notice on its official website.

That notice isn’t just routine wording. While Disney does its best to keep construction contained, projects of this length can still impact the overall feel of a stay. Guests may run into noise during the day or find themselves taking alternate routes around the resort.

If you’re trying to save money while staying inside the Disney bubble, here’s what to know before you lock in your reservation.

Why Value Resorts Remain a Go-To Choice

Value resorts remain a favorite among guests who want the Disney experience without the higher price tag. They offer early park entry and full access to Disney transportation, all while keeping nightly rates more manageable.

The All-Star Resorts—Movies, Sports, and Music—are some of the most recognizable. Their bright, larger-than-life theming and straightforward rooms make them especially appealing for families and groups.

Pop Century has built a strong following as well, thanks in part to its access to the Skyliner, which connects guests to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Art of Animation offers a similar location advantage with the bonus of family suites and immersive theming.

Because these resorts are so popular, any extended refurbishment tends to affect both availability and pricing across the entire value category.

All-Star Movies Enters a Months-Long Refurbishment

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is scheduled for a refurbishment beginning in May 2026 and continuing through the end of January 2027. That timeline covers several busy travel periods, including summer and the holidays.

Disney has already shared what guests should expect during this time. According to its advisory, “During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area, and alternate paths of travel may be in place.”

This type of project typically focuses on updating rooms and refreshing parts of the resort. In the past, similar refurbishments have included changes like new flooring, updated beds, and more modern layouts.

Even when construction stays contained, it can still shift how the resort feels day to day. Some areas may be closed, and familiar walking paths may change depending on where work is taking place.

How This Could Affect Your Stay

Availability will likely be the biggest factor for guests planning a stay during this window. When Disney refurbishes rooms, it often removes sections of the resort from booking while work is underway.

That can make securing the remaining rooms harder, especially during peak travel seasons. Guests who wait too long may need to consider other resorts if availability tightens.

Beyond booking challenges, the experience itself could change slightly. Construction noise may be noticeable during the day, and some walkways may be rerouted. Disney usually provides clear signage, but it can still take a little getting used to.

There is a positive side, though. Once the work wraps up, the resort will likely feel refreshed, offering updated rooms and a more modern look.

Is It Still Worth Booking?

That depends on how you plan to spend your time. If you’ll be in the parks most of the day, All-Star Movies can still be a great value. For many guests, the resort serves mainly as a place to sleep.

If you’re hoping for a quieter, more relaxed hotel experience, you may want to look at alternatives like Pop Century or Art of Animation. They may cost a bit more, but they could offer a smoother stay during this timeframe.

Another option is to adjust your travel dates. Visiting before the refurbishment begins or after it ends in early 2027 allows you to avoid construction altogether.

A Reminder That Disney Is Always Evolving

Disney World constantly updates its resorts, and projects like this are part of that process. Still, an eight-month refurbishment at a popular value resort is worth factoring into your plans.

Disney has already made it clear that guests may notice changes during the work. From reduced availability to daytime construction activity, this is more than a minor update.

With a little planning, you can still have a great trip. Just make sure you know what to expect before you book.
