All Sleeping Beauty Castle Photos Ruined After Disney Implements Immediate Change
A familiar view has quietly changed at one Disney park.
From Walt Disney’s OG Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park in 1955 to later iterations around the world, Disney castles have served as both architectural anchors and symbolic entry points. They are designed to guide guest movement while reinforcing the brand’s storytelling.

At multiple parks, the approach to the castle — particularly from a central bridge or pathway — has become one of the most photographed locations.
However, castle access has now been adjusted at one Disney park.
Bridge closure Alters Sleeping Beauty Castle Access
Disney has closed a primary access point to one of its castle walkways, effective immediately.
At Disneyland Paris, the bridge leading directly to Sleeping Beauty Castle is now inaccessible to guests as refurbishment work begins. The closure impacts the main route connecting the park’s entrance area to Fantasyland.

After years of complaints that Sleeping Beauty Castle and its surroundings are quite literally “crumbling,” Disneyland Paris is undertaking extensive repair works around the castle’s bridge and entrance.

Guests can no longer walk straight through the castle via the central archway. Instead, access is being redirected through adjacent pathways and the surrounding courtyard.
The castle itself remains open, including La Tanière du Dragon, the walkthrough attraction located beneath it featuring an animatronic dragon. However, the closure removes the most direct and commonly used route through the structure.
This follows a separate refurbishment of the castle’s stage, which only wrapped up in 2025 and also caused mass disruption around Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The change also affects guest photography. The central bridge viewpoint, typically used for unobstructed castle images, is no longer available during the construction period.
Refurbishment Clashes With Summer Crowds
The project marks the second major refurbishment of the castle bridge, following similar work completed in 2010.
Disney has not provided a detailed breakdown of the repairs, but the work follows ongoing guest feedback regarding wear in the area. The current refurbishment focuses on the bridge and entrance, rather than the castle structure itself.

The timing places construction during the summer season, when guest numbers are typically high. Temporary barriers have been installed around the work site, altering sightlines in a central area of the park.
The closure also affects nighttime operations. Disneyland Paris currently stages Disney Tales of Magic, which uses projection mapping and fountain effects around the castle.
During the refurbishment, those fountain elements have been paused. White construction walls have been installed to support projections, allowing the show to continue in a modified format.

Disney has indicated that the work is expected to conclude by late September 2026. The timeline positions the project to be completed ahead of the resort’s Halloween and holiday offerings.
Wider Resort Changes Provide Alternatives
The closure comes as the resort continues broader updates across its second park.
Disney Adventure World has introduced new themed areas and visual landmarks as part of its transformation from Walt Disney Studios Park. Among them is the Arendelle Castle within World of Frozen, which provides an additional focal point for guests.

In recent years, construction has limited available space and sightlines in that park. The ongoing updates are intended to expand capacity and improve guest flow.
Even so, the temporary loss of the central castle approach at Disneyland Paris represents a notable operational shift. The route has historically functioned as both a practical thoroughfare and a key visual element.
Will the bridge closure impact your upcoming Disneyland Paris trip?
