New Muppets Coaster Passholder Preview Dates Confirmed, Virtual Queue Details Inside
Disney just locked in the details for Annual Passholder previews of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and if you have been waiting for this announcement since the ride was first revealed, the information you need to act on is right here. Previews run May 21, 22, and 23. The general opening is May 26. The virtual queue structure that controls access during the preview window is tiered, and understanding it before the first preview date arrives will determine whether you get on the ride during those three days or watch everyone else post their reactions while you wait for opening day.
How the Virtual Queue Works for The Muppets
Access to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets during the Passholder preview period is managed through a virtual queue with three separate opening times on each preview day based on your park reservation status.
At 7 a.m., the virtual queue opens exclusively to Passholders with a park reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios on that day. This is the earliest and most competitive window, and having a Hollywood Studios reservation on any of the three preview dates gives you a meaningful head start over everyone else.
At 11 a.m., the virtual queue opens to Passholders who have a park reservation for any Walt Disney World theme park, not just Hollywood Studios. If you have an EPCOT or Magic Kingdom reservation on a preview day, you can still join the virtual queue at this time.
At 3 p.m., the virtual queue opens to all Annual Passholders, regardless of whether they have any park reservations. Disney has confirmed that you do not need to have physically entered a theme park to join the virtual queue, which means you can request your boarding group from home or anywhere else you happen to be at the relevant time.
A virtual queue is not planned for when the attraction opens to the general public on May 26.
The Free Photo Perk
During the May 21 through 23 preview window, Passholders who ride the attraction will receive a complimentary download of their on-ride photo. That perk is exclusive to the preview period and does not carry over once the general opening begins on May 26. For a ride that launches at high speed into darkness with the full Muppets theming surrounding you, the on-ride photo is worth having, and getting it free is a genuine bonus on top of the early access itself.
What the New Muppets Ride Is
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets keeps the G-Force Records setting, now owned by Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, and the same core storyline of a band that needs to get across town in a hurry. The band is now The Electric Mayhem, performing rock covers that Disney has released as the complete attraction tracklist. The queue features Muppet props, Electric Mayhem band posters, and celebrity cameos throughout. The physical ride experience, the launch, the inversions, and the speed remain exactly as they have always been, with entirely new Muppets theming built around it.
Why the Preview Window Matters
Opening day on May 26 is going to generate significant demand for one of the most anticipated attraction debuts Hollywood Studios has seen in years. Lightning Lane availability will fill quickly, and standby times will run high in the weeks following the general opening. The three-day Passholder preview window is the most manageable version of this experience available before the full operating day crowd arrives. If you can secure a Hollywood Studios reservation for any of the three preview dates, the 7 a.m. virtual queue access gives you the best possible position. If you cannot get a Hollywood Studios reservation, the 3 p.m. Universal opening on each preview day still gives you a path to the ride before May 26.
The preview dates are May 21, 22, and 23. The general opening is May 26. The free photo download is a preview only. Plan accordingly.
