Disney Closed 8 Things This Month and at Least One of Them Is Going to Surprise You

Disney dropped eight closure announcements in April covering parks and resorts worldwide, and if you have a trip planned between now and the end of the year, at least a few of these are going to be relevant to your itinerary. Some are temporary refurbishments with specific return windows. Some have no announced reopening date. And two of them are permanent, meaning whatever you were planning to do there is no longer an option. Here is the full list.

Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea Closing Forever

The biggest announcement on the list is the permanent closure of Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea on September 14, 2026. The trackless water ride has been an opening-day attraction at the park since its opening, and its closure marks the end of a decades-long run as part of the Port Discovery area. The Oriental Land Company announced the closure as part of plans to reimagine that section of the park. If Tokyo DisneySea is on your list and you want to experience Aquatopia, September 14 is your deadline.

Shore at Disney Springs Closing Permanently

Closer to home, the clothing store Shore at Disney Springs is closing permanently on April 30, 2026. This follows the earlier permanent closures of Sprinkles Cupcakes and Francesca’s at the district this year. Disney has not announced what is replacing the Shore space, so guests who have been planning a visit should act now or accept that the window has closed.

Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland

Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is going offline for refurbishment starting May 4. No reopening date has been announced. For Disneyland visitors who consider this a must-do the absence needs to be factored into any upcoming trip planning until a return timeline is confirmed.

Vacation Fun at Hollywood Studios

Vacation Fun, An Original Animated Short featuring Mickey and Minnie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, closed temporarily on April 29, with Disney saying only that it will reopen later this year. No specific date has been provided, making this another one to monitor as summer approaches.

Walt Disney World Transportation Closures

Two resort boat docks are currently offline at Walt Disney World. The boat dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is closed for routine maintenance from May 11 through late June, meaning guests staying there will need to use the Monorail to reach Magic Kingdom during that window. The docks and boats at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are closed for refurbishment from April 13 through May 1, with buses running as the replacement transportation between the resort and Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is closing for refurbishment from approximately May 4 through early fall. The renovation includes new contouring, upgraded irrigation, and improved drainage. Guests who want to golf during the closure can use three other courses on Disney property near Magic Kingdom at Shades of Green.

Kiddie Pool Deck at Pop Century

The Kiddie Pool Deck at Disney’s Pop Century Resort was closed briefly from April 13 through late April for routine maintenance. The closure was short-term and should be resolved by May, allowing families arriving later in the month to proceed.

Eight closures across parks worldwide in a single month is a significant number, and the range of what is on that list, from a permanent overseas park closure to a Disney Springs retail departure to a beloved Disneyland ride going offline with no return date announced, covers enough ground that most guests with upcoming trips will find at least one item relevant to their plans. Checking this list before you go is significantly easier than finding out at the park gate.
