Hogwarts Castle Remains Missing From Universal Orlando Resort

The most iconic structure in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been partially hidden from view for nearly a month. While some of the barriers are starting to come down at Universal Orlando Resort, Hogwarts Castle isn’t fully back yet.

Universal Orlando Resort wrapped Hogwarts Castle in scrim, scaffolding, and construction walls in late March without any advance notice to guests. For weeks, the landmark building in Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure remained largely out of sight, with the repainting work underway behind the barriers.

About a week ago, a small section of scrim came down, offering the first glimpse of the structure underneath, though barely enough to see anything meaningful. Things finally changed on Sunday.

Photos shared by X (formerly Twitter) user @bioreconstruct on April 26 show that scrim has been removed from the majority of the main tower, giving Universal Orlando Resort guests their clearest view of the castle since the barriers went up. The scaffolding remains, but is expected to be pulled down in the near term.

With the scrim gone from that section, recognizable details of the Hogsmeade landmark are visible once more — including the clock face that had been obscured throughout the construction period:

Behind the scaffolding, freshly repainted surfaces are also visible on the base of the main tower and the roof of a shorter tower to its right.

Scrim is still covering the right side of the castle, where repainting work is continuing. That portion is expected to match the finished sections when it finally comes down.

Universal Orlando Resort has not shared a completion timeline for this project in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the attraction inside Hogwarts Castle, has remained operational throughout.
