Disney World Quietly Skips Major October Resort Discounts
Summer plans are mostly locked in, and attention turns to fall—specifically, the Halloween season at Walt Disney World. It’s also when experienced planners begin watching closely for one thing: room-only resort discounts for October.
This year, those deals feel noticeably incomplete.
Disney has already released its first wave of fall savings, including the “Save Up to 30% on Rooms in Late Summer and Early Fall” offer. On paper, it looks like a strong promotion, covering arrivals from July 30 through October 3, 2026. That means August and all of September—including early Halloween party dates—are technically included.

But look a little closer, and a gap starts to appear.
The October Cutoff That Stands Out
The current discount stops at October 3. That cutoff leaves the majority of October—arguably the most popular time to visit for Halloween—without a room-only resort discount.
That’s not a small detail.
Late October is when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is in full swing. Party dates become more frequent, seasonal offerings feel more immersive, and crowds begin to build as families plan trips around school schedules and the holiday itself.
Right now, those are the exact dates where guests are seeing full pricing on Disney Resort hotels.
Not a Complete Lack of Savings
To be fair, it’s not entirely accurate to say Disney has ignored October.
There are broader offers available. The Free Dining promotion, for example, includes arrivals from October 19 through October 31, 2026. For many families, that can be a huge value—sometimes even more impactful than a percentage off a room when you factor in the cost of meals.
But that type of deal works differently.
Free Dining is a package-based offer, requiring tickets and a full vacation bundle. It doesn’t provide the same flexibility as a room-only discount, which many repeat visitors prefer when customizing their trips or stacking savings.
So while October isn’t completely without options, the absence of a traditional resort discount is still being felt.
Why Disney Might Be Holding Back
At first glance, it’s easy to assume Disney is behind schedule. But historically, that’s not quite the case.
Disney typically releases fall discounts in phases. The first wave often covers late summer through early October—exactly what we’re seeing now. The second wave, which includes mid-October through the holiday season, usually arrives later.
In 2025, for example, room-only discounts covering mid-October through late December didn’t drop until July.
That puts this year’s rollout right on track, even if it doesn’t feel that way to guests eager to lock in their plans.

The Real Impact on Planning
Even if the timing is normal, the situation still creates uncertainty.
October is one of the most in-demand times to visit Walt Disney World. Without visible resort discounts for those dates, guests are left weighing their options:
- Book now at full price and secure their preferred resort
- Or wait and hope a better deal arrives later
That decision gets tougher as availability continues to shrink, especially at popular resorts.
For many, the safest approach is to book early and adjust later if discounts are released. Disney has historically allowed guests to apply new offers to existing reservations, provided the room type qualifies.
Still Waiting on That Second Wave
Right now, Disney has covered the early portion of Halloween season with its initial discount release. But the heart of October—the time most guests are aiming for—remains untouched when it comes to room-only resort deals.
And while that may feel like something has been skipped, it’s more accurate to say it hasn’t arrived yet.
If history is any guide, those discounts could still be coming later this summer. Until then, guests planning October trips are left doing what Disney fans don’t always love to do—waiting without clear answers.
