Disney World Announces Major Advisory for “Value” Resort Stays in 2026

Walt Disney World guests have counted on value resorts for years. If you wanted to stay on property, keep your costs lower, and still get the Disney bubble, those hotels usually made a lot of sense. But 2026 is making that choice a little less automatic.

Disney has not said that guests should avoid value resorts. That is not what this is. Still, once you look at the current hotel discounts, the construction happening across the parks, and the extra summer perks tied to certain resorts, it becomes easier to see why some families may want to pause before booking the cheapest room they can find.

That is especially true if your usual strategy is to book an All-Star resort and never look back.

Why Value Resorts Have Always Been So Popular

There is a reason Disney’s value resorts keep showing up on family vacation plans. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort all give guests a themed place to stay without the much heavier price tag attached to resorts like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Then there is Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which many guests see as a step up within the value tier. They still keep prices lower than Disney’s deluxe hotels, but they also lean harder into oversized Disney theming. These are the kinds of resorts where the hotel itself feels like part of the trip.

On top of that, value guests still get useful benefits. Free Disney transportation matters. onsite food matters. Early Entry matters. For a long time, that package made these hotels feel like the easy answer for budget-conscious travelers.

Why the Discounts Are Turning Heads

This year, though, Disney’s hotel promotions are shifting the conversation.

For stays from May 1 through July 29, 2026, Disney is offering some strong room discounts across multiple resort categories. The savings climb depending on where you stay and how long your trip lasts. In some cases, deluxe resorts are getting the biggest cuts, while moderate and value resorts are also discounted.

That changes how guests view the numbers.

When a moderate or deluxe resort drops in price closer to a value resort, the usual gap starts to feel much smaller. Suddenly, the cheapest hotel is not automatically the smartest buy. Some guests are seeing that they can spend a bit more and get a noticeably better experience.

That does not make value resorts a bad deal. It just means they no longer win by default.

Why Location Matters More This Year

At the same time, where you stay matters even more because the parks themselves are dealing with major construction.

Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom all have big projects underway. That means walls, route changes, and the possibility that some parts of your day may not go as smoothly as you hoped. In a setup like that, extra park time becomes even more valuable.

That is why Early Entry stands out. Getting in ahead of the main crowds can help you make up lost time. But not every value resort puts you in the best position to take full advantage of it.

The All-Star resorts depend on buses. That is it. During busy travel periods, those bus rides can eat into your morning. Pop Century and Art of Animation have a real edge here because they share Skyliner access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which can make getting around feel much easier.

So if you are already working around construction, transportation convenience matters more than it might in a quieter year.

The Summer Perks Are Not Equal

Then there is Cool Kids Summer.

Disney is bringing back the event from late May through early September, and it adds a lot for families with young kids. Character appearances, story-based activities, pajama party fun, pool games, and campfire entertainment all help turn a hotel stay into more than just a place to sleep.

But Disney is not offering those extras at every value resort.

The participating hotels include Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The All-Star resorts are left out.

That is a big detail. If you stay at All-Star Movies, Music, or Sports, you may save some money, but you also miss the extra summer offerings that could make a family trip feel more complete.

Better Budget-Friendly Choices

That is why some guests may want to look a little higher than usual this year.

A moderate resort like Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans – Riverside could land closer to value pricing than expected once discounts kick in. At the same time, Pop Century and Art of Animation remain strong picks for guests who want to stay in the value category without giving up better transportation and summer perks.

You may also get more mileage out of adjusting your travel dates or staying longer if that opens up better savings.

The Real Takeaway

In 2026, Disney’s value resorts still have a place. They are still themed, still convenient in many ways, and still much easier on the wallet than Disney’s premium hotels.

But this year, the best value may not always sit in the value tier.

Between room discounts, construction pressures, transportation differences, and uneven summer perks, guests have more reason than usual to compare options before locking anything in. That is the real shift at Disney World right now, and it could make a bigger difference to your trip than you expect.
