Disney Starts Quietly Forcing Guests To Pay $100+ for Dinner With Mickey Mouse
A familiar Disney park dining experience has quietly disappeared — and the replacement comes with a noticeably higher price.
Guests hoping to meet Mickey Mouse over a meal are now finding that one of the most accessible options has vanished. In its place, diners are being redirected toward experiences that cost more than $100 per person.
Character dining has long been a cornerstone of the Disney parks experience. These restaurants allow guests to meet characters at their tables rather than waiting in traditional meet-and-greet lines scattered throughout the parks.
The concept exists across Disney resorts worldwide, pairing buffet or table-service meals with appearances from characters such as Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, and Disney Princesses. Reservations for the most popular restaurants often disappear weeks in advance.
Recent years have even seen Disney expand these experiences. New character dining venues have opened at locations including The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge at the newly debuted Disney Adventure World and La Table de Lumière at the Disneyland Hotel.
At Disneyland Resort in California, Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has also joined the lineup.
Despite that expansion, one long-running dining location has now closed — changing where guests must go to meet Mickey Mouse during a meal.
Disneyland Paris Closes Its Main Mickey Character Breakfast
At Disneyland Paris, Plaza Gardens Restaurant has officially closed to all guests.
The Victorian-style pavilion on Main Street, U.S.A. inside Disneyland Park had long hosted a character breakfast where guests could meet Mickey Mouse and several other classic Disney characters.
During the morning service, Mickey and Minnie appeared alongside characters such as Tigger, Goofy, Pinocchio, and Pluto.
Disney announced earlier this year that the restaurant would close for refurbishment. The company has not confirmed a reopening timeline, though unconfirmed reports suggest the closure may be related to a “deteriorating building structure.”
Before closing, Plaza Gardens was the only character dining experience inside Disneyland Park where guests could meet Mickey Mouse and friends.
The breakfast buffet was also significantly cheaper than many other character dining experiences at the resort.
As of 2025, breakfast at Plaza Gardens cost €50 ($58) per adult and €40 ($46) per child.
With the restaurant now closed, that option has disappeared.
Guests Now Directed Toward Much Pricier Mickey Dining
The primary alternative is now the Royal Banquet at Disneyland Hotel.
At this character dining experience, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other characters appear in royal-themed costumes inside the hotel’s grand dining room.
The price is considerably higher.
Guests pay €100 ($115) per adult and €50 ($58) per child for the experience.
Some visitors have criticized the restaurant for the cost and the layout of the dining room, saying diners are packed together “like sardines.”
Disney has also adjusted the character lineup at another restaurant.
Mickey Mouse has temporarily been added to Auberge de Cendrillon, a fairy-tale themed restaurant normally centered on Disney Princesses such as Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella.
At Auberge de Cendrillon, Mickey appears in a new costume featuring a feathered hat and a blue, purple, and yellow waistcoat.

However, the price is the same as the Royal Banquet.
Guests dining there pay €100 ($115) per adult and €50 ($58) per child.
That makes both options significantly more expensive than the former Plaza Gardens breakfast.
Dining prices at Disneyland Paris are generally higher than comparable character meals in the United States.
Dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table at Walt Disney World costs $89 per adult and $54 per child, while breakfast is cheaper at $76 per adult and $47 per child. Dining with Winnie the Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace costs $64 per adult and $44 per child.
At Disneyland Resort in California, Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner at Storytellers Cafe costs $69 per adult and $39 per child.
Inside Disneyland Park, breakfast with Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn costs $55 per adult and $33 per child.
