Disney Character Confirms Indefinite Removal From Property to Guests Visiting Park

Disney is getting ready to make a major adjustment inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and longtime visitors may soon notice Batuu isn’t quite the same place they remember.

After operating for nearly seven years, Disneyland Resort has confirmed that its Star Wars-themed land is about to evolve in a big way. When Galaxy’s Edge first opened, it was carefully designed to exist within the sequel trilogy timeline. Now, that approach is changing, allowing characters and stories from across the franchise to step into the spotlight.

Located at both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Galaxy’s Edge has long stood out as one of Disney’s most detailed lands. Instead of recreating locations from the films, Imagineers introduced Batuu, a remote Outer Rim world centered around Black Spire Outpost. With towering rock formations and constant in-universe activity, the land has always aimed to make guests feel like they’ve stepped directly into Star Wars.

Two signature attractions continue to define the experience. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run puts guests in control of the iconic ship, with each rider assigned a role that impacts the mission. Beginning in late May, the ride will receive an update tied to the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026), bringing Din Djarin and Grogu into the story.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance remains a massive, multi-layered attraction that blends trackless ride systems with live-action moments, dropping guests into a conflict between the Resistance and the First Order.

Beyond the rides, Galaxy’s Edge has built its reputation on immersive storytelling. Visitors can stop by Oga’s Cantina, sample themed food and drinks, or create their own lightsaber or droid. The goal has always been to make Batuu feel alive. Now, Disney is taking that concept even further.

“Beginning April 29, 2026, visitors will be invited to immerse themselves in different points of the Star Wars saga inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park as they never have before,” Disney Parks Blog announced earlier this year, “with characters and storylines that capture the heart of what draws guests to this galaxy far, far away.”

For the first time, characters from the original trilogy will officially arrive in Galaxy’s Edge. Guests will soon encounter Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia—made famous by Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher—throughout Batuu.

Darth Vader’s search for Luke Skywalker will bring him to Batuu. This Sith Lord will be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers, and as they seek the elusive Jedi, they may find hints of the Force around the outpost.

Leia Organa and Han Solo will be reunited with Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca amid the rocky spires.

Luke Skywalker will roam the outpost seeking knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building, kyber crystals, and more.

Leia Organa may be spotted near the Millennium Falcon, where she’ll recruit travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe.

Han Solo will also linger around his prized ship, tempted by the local cantina.

Disney also confirmed that current characters such as Rey, the Mandalorian, and Ahsoka will continue appearing, creating a blend of personalities from across the timeline. This shift marks a major departure from Galaxy’s Edge’s original structure. Instead of sticking to a single era, Batuu will now act as a flexible setting that celebrates the entire Star Wars saga.

Not every character will be sticking around, however. One notable exit is Vi Moradi, a Resistance spy who has been part of the land’s story since opening day. For those unfamiliar, Vi Moradi first appeared in Delilah S. Dawson’s “Star Wars: Phasma” (2017) before becoming a live presence in the parks.

Back in August 2019, StarWars.com shared the character’s history, saying, “Vi is a long-time member of the Resistance, and she’s responsible for keeping the spark of hope alive, undermining and fighting the First Order whenever she can.” However, that chapter is now coming to a close.

According to a post shared on Instagram by @thatcornerincoruscant, a performer portraying Vi Moradi revealed that the character has been reassigned to a new mission beyond Batuu. This in-universe explanation aligns with the larger timeline changes coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The change takes effect April 29, the same day the new storytelling direction begins. Fans have already reacted online, with one writing, “Wish they’d just move her to the area around Rise; [she is too good a] character for young black girls to have someone that they relate to,” while another added, “No Vi can’t leave we need to fight to keep her on Batuu.”

While Disney has not issued a standalone statement on her removal, her departure fits into the broader overhaul.

Guests will also notice updates throughout the land. Music from across the original six films will play, including John Williams’ “Main Title,” the Force Theme, and tracks like “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” and “The Emperor.” Oga’s Cantina will continue featuring the “Cantina Band,” now tied to the Galactic Civil War era.

Retail and experiences are evolving as well. First Order Cargo has been reimagined as Black Spire Surplus, “a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy,” while Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will rotate new items.

Droid Depot and Savi’s Workshop will also remain key parts of the experience, with updates tied into the evolving story—especially as Luke Skywalker searches for knowledge of the Force.

Nighttime offerings like “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” and “Fire of the Rising Moons” will continue, with some updates rolling out over time ahead of the full debut on April 29, 2026.

With these changes, Disney is reshaping Galaxy’s Edge into something broader—no longer tied to a single era, but instead pulling from the full Star Wars saga.
