Something as simple as a walkway closure might not sound like a big deal at first. But over at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, that small change is actually a sign of something much larger happening behind the scenes.

Guests moving between EPCOT and the Beach Club Villas are now dealing with a temporary closure along a key pathway during the late morning and early afternoon hours. It’s not permanent, but it’s noticeable—and for frequent visitors, it’s one of those changes that immediately stands out. You’re forced to pause, reroute, and rethink what used to be a quick, easy walk.
That’s usually how these things start at Disney. A small disruption here, a construction wall there. Then, before long, you realize the entire area is in the middle of a major transformation.
That’s exactly what’s happening at the Beach Club right now.
Construction Is Everywhere—And It’s Not Subtle
If you’ve been near the resort recently, you’ve probably spotted the equipment, barriers, and ongoing work. Crews are actively replacing siding across sections of the resort, and it’s not just cosmetic work. Entire walls have been stripped down, exposing structural layers that guests don’t normally see.

Some areas look unfinished, with temporary materials in place while work continues. It gives the resort a bit of a “mid-renovation” feel, which is rare for a Disney property that usually hides construction so well.
But in this case, it’s hard to completely mask what’s going on—because it’s happening at scale.
More Than Just a Walkway Closure
The walkway shutdown is just one piece of the puzzle. Nearby, parts of the resort have been taken offline completely. Certain rooms aren’t being used during construction, and smaller guest areas—like the Tidal Pool and nearby restrooms—have been closed as crews work through repairs and updates.
Even the restroom building has been stripped down to the point where the roof is gone. That’s not maintenance. That’s a rebuild.
And when those types of projects are happening all at once, you start to see how extensive this refurbishment really is.
Disney Is Playing the Long Game Here
This project isn’t expected to wrap up anytime soon. The refurbishment timeline stretches through 2027, which tells you everything you need to know about how much work is left.
But Disney has already made progress in phases. The lobby was refreshed a couple of years ago, and more recently, updates were made to the resort’s entrance and its signature pool area. Now, the focus has shifted to the buildings themselves—and the infrastructure that keeps everything running smoothly.

It’s a slow, methodical process. But that’s usually how Disney handles its most important resorts.
Short-Term Frustration, Long-Term Payoff
For guests visiting right now, there’s no way around it—you’re going to notice the construction. You might have to take a longer route. You might run into blocked-off areas or see parts of the resort that look unfinished.
But this is the tradeoff.
The Beach Club remains one of the most desirable resorts at Walt Disney World, and keeping it that way requires updates like this. When the work is finished, most of what guests are dealing with now will fade into the background.
And what’s left will feel refreshed, updated, and ready for the next decade of visitors.
