‘Stranger Things’ 2026 Theatrical Release Gets Surprising Update

After the divisive fifth and final season, Stranger Things fans are getting the chance to see the next major installment in the franchise on the big screen.

Tales From ’85, the new 3D animated series, will screen the first two episodes back-to-back in select U.S. theaters on April 18, five days ahead of its global Netflix premiere on April 23. Watch the official trailer for the upcoming series below:

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the two episodes together will run for approximately 55 minutes, suggesting each episode is around 27–28 minutes long.

AMC Theatres is partnering with Netflix for the screenings, which will take place at 34 theaters across the U.S., with showings at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Additional viewings will be held at the Paris Theater in New York and Netflix House Philadelphia. Attendees in the U.S. will also receive an exclusive collectible while supplies last.

Tales From ’85 brings back several main characters from the flagship series. New voice actors include Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield, Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas Sinclair, Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson, Benjamin Plessala as Will Byers, and Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper.

The series is set in winter 1985, between seasons 2 and 3, and follows the group as they discover something terrifying beneath the town.

Netflix has brought Stranger Things to theaters before: Season 5 premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on November 6, 2025, and the finale was released simultaneously on Netflix and in over 600 theaters across North America on December 31, 2025, continuing through January 1, 2026.
