‘Coco’ Ride Officially in Development at Disneyland Resort
The Land of the Dead is under construction, and the proof is piling up along Disneyland Drive. Check out the latest updates on the upcoming Coco (2017) ride at Disney California Adventure Park.
Ground Cleared, Foundation Visible

Work on the upcoming Coco attraction at Disney California Adventure Park moved into unmistakable territory this week as Disneyland Resort bulldozed a significant stretch of trees and landscaping along the park‘s perimeter. WDWNT photographed the aftermath, showing at least a dozen trees reduced to mulch and stumps along the edge of the property awaiting removal.
Theme park journalist Scott Gustin captured the scope of the clearing with before-and-after images shared on X (formerly known as Twitter):
Clearing along Disneyland Drive continues as Disneyland moves forward with work on the upcoming Coco attraction at Disney California Adventure.
Here’s a before-and-after look showing how many trees have been removed as the project progresses.

The tree removal is only part of the story. Behind the perimeter fence erected in February, the foundation of the attraction is now visible. Camouflage netting has been delivered to the site but hasn’t been hung on the fence yet; when it is, it will block the construction progress from view for Disney Park guests and pedestrians passing nearby.
Following Miguel Into the Land of the Dead

The Coco ride was formally announced at D23 Expo 2024 as part of the DisneylandForward expansion, which will push Disney California Adventure Park beyond its existing physical boundaries. The attraction is headed to Pixar Pier, and the only concept art Disneyland Resort has released publicly points to a boat ride format.
Details on the experience itself have been limited, but Disneyland Resort has confirmed that guests will journey alongside Miguel into the Land of the Dead, with skeletal audio-animatronics and the iconic music from Pixar’s 2017 film setting the tone throughout. An opening date has not been confirmed.
