Disney Slips ‘Toy Story 5’ Clues Into Magic Kingdom Attraction
When Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopens in Magic Kingdom, riders will notice more than just upgraded technology and smoother gameplay. Disney Imagineers have quietly added a collection of hidden Easter eggs throughout the attraction, and some of them appear to connect directly to Toy Story 5 (2026).

The classic Tomorrowland ride closed in August 2025 for one of the biggest refurbishments it has ever received. For nearly three decades, the attraction has invited guests to help Buzz Lightyear battle Emperor Zurg while racking up points by blasting targets scattered throughout colorful show scenes.
While the gameplay remains familiar, the refreshed version introduces a variety of upgrades designed to modernize the experience. Ride vehicles have been redesigned, handheld blasters replace the old fixed ones, and new digital targets respond more clearly when riders hit them.
These upgrades also allowed Imagineers to get creative with hidden surprises.
Kimberly Alison, a producer with Walt Disney Imagineering, explained that the team wanted to keep the spirit of discovery alive for longtime fans.

According to Alison, the designers made sure the attraction still contains the small hidden details that superfans enjoy searching for during every ride.
At the same time, the new digital systems opened the door to adding even more surprises throughout the attraction.
That means guests riding the updated attraction may notice small details tucked into scenes that weren’t there before. Some could appear as background objects, visual gags, or subtle story elements woven into the ride’s environments.
The biggest tease, however, involves Pixar’s next film.
Toy Story 5 is set to arrive in theaters in June 2026, and Imagineers have hinted that some of the Easter eggs hidden throughout the ride may reference the upcoming movie.

Disney has not revealed exactly what those references look like. Instead, the company appears to be encouraging guests to discover them for themselves.
For fans of the franchise, that mystery has already sparked excitement.
The Toy Story saga began with Toy Story (1995), Pixar’s groundbreaking first feature film. The story of Woody, Buzz, and their fellow toys quickly became one of the most beloved franchises in animation.
The series continued with Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019), each expanding the emotional story of the characters.
Now Pixar is returning to the world again with Toy Story 5 (2026), and even the smallest hints about the movie have fans paying close attention.

That makes the updated Buzz Lightyear ride an unexpected place to search for clues.
The attraction will still challenge riders to defeat Emperor Zurg and achieve the Galactic Hero score, but guests may find themselves focusing on more than just their points.
They’ll also be scanning the ride scenes for hidden details.
And if Disney Imagineers had their way, those discoveries will keep riders coming back again and again in hopes of finding every secret tucked inside the attraction.
