Report: ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Revives ‘Star Wars’ Prequel Character

Excitement around the next season of Ahsoka (2023) is already building, even though Lucasfilm has shared very few official details. Production on Season 2 has largely stayed out of the spotlight so far, but a new report circulating among fans may have revealed a major hint about what’s coming next.

According to the report, a familiar figure from the Star Wars prequel era could appear in the upcoming season. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the rumor points to the return of a character who played a major role in shaping the Jedi Order during the Republic’s final years.

If the information turns out to be accurate, the series could deepen its already strong ties to the prequel trilogy and the stories that defined that era of the galaxy.

For now, it remains speculation—but it’s the kind of speculation that immediately grabs the attention of longtime fans.

The Story Left Several Threads Open

Season 1 of Ahsoka (2023) ended with the galaxy in a tense and uncertain place. The series followed Ahsoka Tano as she searched for Grand Admiral Thrawn while trying to prevent a renewed Imperial threat from taking shape.

By the end of the finale, Thrawn had successfully returned to the main galaxy. His escape set up a looming conflict between Imperial remnants and the New Republic.

At the same time, Ahsoka and Sabine Wren remained stranded in another galaxy. Their situation left viewers wondering how the story could reunite the characters moving forward.

Season 2 will likely pick up from that moment, continuing to explore the consequences of Thrawn’s return while expanding Ahsoka’s journey as a former Jedi navigating a complicated legacy.

The Prequel Era Still Shapes the Galaxy

The influence of the prequel trilogy remains a major part of modern Star Wars storytelling. Films like The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005) introduced audiences to the Jedi Order at the height of its power.

Characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Mace Windu helped define the era. They played key roles in the events that eventually led to the fall of the Republic.

Lucasfilm has continued to explore that time period across multiple projects. Animated series, novels, and live-action stories have all revisited the Clone Wars and the Jedi who fought in it.

Ahsoka (2023) has leaned heavily into that history. The character first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), where she served as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice during the war between the Republic and the Separatists.

Season 1 of the live-action series even revisited that period directly. Through visions tied to the Force, viewers saw Hayden Christensen return as Anakin alongside Ariana Greenblatt as a younger Ahsoka.

Those moments reinforced how important the Clone Wars remain to the show’s storytelling.

Anakin’s Influence Continues Into Season 2

Ahsoka’s relationship with Anakin Skywalker has always shaped her identity. Even after leaving the Jedi Order, the lessons she learned during the Republic era continue to affect how she sees the galaxy.

Season 1 explored that dynamic through Anakin’s appearance, which blended mentorship with reflection on Ahsoka’s past.

Christensen has already been confirmed to return in Season 2, suggesting the story will continue to explore those connections.

Because of Anakin’s central role in the narrative, fans have started wondering whether other Jedi from that era could appear as well.

A Possible Obi-Wan Appearance Sparks Rumors

One of the most interesting rumors about Season 2 involves actor Ewan McGregor.

According to a report from Bespin Bulletin, a crew member on the series recalled a moment on set involving McGregor. While discussing favorite experiences during production, the crew member mentioned that the actor allowed him to hold Ahsoka’s lightsaber for a brief moment.

That small detail caught fans’ attention immediately. If McGregor truly visited the set, it could suggest that he filmed scenes as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Of course, that conclusion remains speculative. McGregor could have simply stopped by the production, especially considering his connection to the show.

Flashbacks Could Revisit the Clone Wars

Lucasfilm has not confirmed McGregor’s involvement in Ahsoka (2023) Season 2. Still, rumors suggest that if Obi-Wan appears, it may happen through flashbacks to the Clone Wars.

Hayden Christensen’s return already hints that the show plans to revisit Ahsoka’s past. Flashbacks could allow the series to explore moments when Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka fought together during the war.

There is another interesting detail behind the speculation as well. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, McGregor’s wife, plays Hera Syndulla in the series.

If McGregor joined the production, it could mark the first time their characters appear in the same Star Wars story.

What Fans Might See Next

Even if the rumors prove true, Obi-Wan would likely appear only briefly. A flashback could enrich Ahsoka’s backstory without shifting the focus away from the present-day conflict with Thrawn.

Still, the idea of seeing the three Jedi reunited—even for a moment—would carry significant emotional weight.

For many viewers, those characters represent one of the most beloved eras in the entire saga.

As Season 2 of Ahsoka (2023) continues to take shape behind the scenes, the possibility of revisiting that history only adds to the excitement surrounding the series.
