Universal has been expanding rapidly in recent years. The company has rolled out new attractions, revived long-rumored projects, and even launched entirely new theme parks. Instead of simply maintaining its existing parks, Universal has clearly shifted toward aggressive growth across its destinations.
Guests visiting Universal parks have noticed this momentum firsthand. The company continues introducing immersive lands and cutting-edge attractions while expanding its roster of characters and stories. Universal appears determined to grow its influence in the theme park industry by pushing creative boundaries and bringing recognizable franchises to life in new ways.
That strategy now stretches beyond Universal’s traditional resort locations. Rather than focusing on one major destination, the company has begun developing new experiences in entirely different regions. And now, Universal has started sharing new details about one of its newest park projects.

Universal’s Epic Universe Set the Stage
To understand where Universal is headed, it helps to look at what the company accomplished most recently.
Epic Universe, which opened at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025, immediately became one of the biggest additions the theme park industry has seen in years. The park introduced several large-scale themed lands built around major franchises and creative concepts.
Guests can explore Dark Universe, an immersive land inspired by Universal’s classic monsters. Another area invites visitors to step into the world of How to Train Your Dragon, where the Viking village of Berk comes to life.
Epic Universe also expanded the Wizarding World with a new area centered on the Ministry of Magic. All of these lands connect through a large central hub that serves as the park’s core gathering space.
The park proved that Universal is willing to invest heavily in its parks. With expansion space already built into the park’s layout, many fans believe Epic Universe could continue growing in the future.
But Universal’s ambitions extend far beyond Orlando.

Major Expansions On the Horizon
Some time ago, Universal Studios revealed plans to build a new kids-focused resort in Texas. After the announcement, updates on the project slowed while attention shifted to Epic Universe in Orlando.
For a while, information about the Texas project remained limited. Fans knew the park was under construction, but details about attractions and themed areas remained mostly unknown.
Eventually, construction activity confirmed the resort was moving forward. Still, Universal kept most of the park’s features under wraps.
That situation has started to change.
Universal has begun revealing what guests can expect at Universal Kids Resort, a theme park designed specifically for younger visitors. The park will feature seven themed areas inspired by familiar characters and stories.
Those lands will draw inspiration from Shrek, Minions, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jurassic World, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Gabby’s Dollhouse. Each area will focus on interactive attractions designed for families with young children.
Until recently, however, Universal had not revealed many specifics about what guests would actually experience inside those lands.

First Details About the New Lands
Universal Kids Resort recently shared new details about two of its themed areas in a social media update. The announcement provided a closer look at how Universal plans to bring these stories to life inside the park.
The two lands highlighted in the preview were Jurassic World Adventure Camp and SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom.
Both areas appear to emphasize hands-on activities and playful attractions tailored for younger visitors.
Jurassic World Addition
Jurassic World Adventure Camp will focus on exploration and discovery. Rather than simply recreating scenes from the films, the area encourages kids to interact with the environment around them.
One attraction will explore the idea of dinosaur DNA and take riders high above the land. While the full details remain limited, the ride is expected to blend storytelling with gentle thrills.
The land will also include a smaller roller coaster called the Cretaceous Coaster. Designed for younger riders, the coaster introduces kids to the excitement of roller coasters in a family-friendly way.
Another ride will feature a kid-sized free-fall experience, adding another burst of excitement for young visitors.
Beyond rides, the land will include a large playground where children can climb and explore. Guests will also encounter baby velociraptors that kids can interact with during their adventure.
Altogether, the Jurassic World area aims to combine play spaces, rides, and character interactions into one immersive experience.

Adventures in Bikini Bottom
The park will also feature an area inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants. Bikini Bottom brings the colorful underwater world of the animated series to vibrant life.
One of the main attractions will be Pineapple Paradise, a splash pad built around SpongeBob’s famous pineapple house. The area will allow kids to cool off while exploring the playful setting.
Another attraction lets guests board a jelly angler and spin through jellyfish-themed scenery. The ride captures the fun of exploring Jellyfish Fields.
The land will also include Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, continuing the jellyfish theme with bright visuals and playful energy.

Families can also ride Bobbing Barrels, where guests spin around while spraying water at one another.
Another ride, the Barnacle Bus, gives guests the chance to board a whimsical vehicle inspired by the show’s famous transportation.
Visitors will also be able to visit Mrs. Puff’s boating school and meet SpongeBob himself.
After spending time splashing and exploring Bikini Bottom, guests can stop by Goofy Goobers for a sweet treat inspired by the show.

More Details Will Likely Follow
Universal’s latest announcements offer the clearest look yet at what Universal Kids Resort will bring when it opens.
For months, fans only knew the project existed. Now, the first details of the attractions are finally revealing how the park will take shape.
The resort is expected to open later in 2026, giving Universal time to share even more details about the remaining lands.
If these early previews are any indication, Universal Kids Resort could become one of the company’s most unique theme park experiences yet.
