Popular EPCOT Festival Scaled Back With New 2026 Operating Change

The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival has become one of the most anticipated events on the Walt Disney World calendar. Each spring, the park bursts into color as gardens bloom, character topiaries appear across the park, and festival food booths begin serving seasonal dishes to thousands of visitors.

For many Disney fans, the event feels like the perfect balance between EPCOT’s educational roots and its modern festival culture. Guests can stroll through gardens, sample new menu items, and enjoy live entertainment all within a single afternoon.

But as the 2026 edition of the festival gets underway, Disney has quietly introduced an operational change that slightly alters how the event runs.

While the festival itself remains packed with activities, one part of the experience has been scaled back during part of the week.

A Midweek Adjustment for Festival Food Booths

Food has become one of the biggest draws of EPCOT festivals. During Flower & Garden, Outdoor Kitchens appear throughout the park offering small plates and specialty beverages designed specifically for the event.

In past years, most of these booths opened at the same time every day—typically around 11:00 a.m.

For 2026, Disney has introduced a new schedule that separates weekend and weekday operations.

Outdoor Kitchens will continue opening at 11:00 a.m. and closing at 9:00 p.m. from Friday through Monday.

However, during the middle of the week—Tuesdays through Thursdays—booths will now operate from 11:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.

That means festival booths open half an hour later and close half an hour earlier during those days.

While the difference may appear minor, it effectively reduces the total time guests can experience festival food during midweek visits.

One Booth Opens Much Earlier

There are a few exceptions to the new operating schedule.

The Florida Fresh booth located near CommuniCore Plaza continues to open much earlier than the others. That location begins serving festival items starting at 9:30 a.m.

Additionally, some EPCOT quick-service restaurants offering festival-themed dishes may also begin service earlier in the day.

Still, the majority of Outdoor Kitchens follow the updated weekday schedule.

For guests who enjoy trying several dishes throughout the day, that could slightly compress the time available to explore the festival’s food lineup.

A Festival That Transforms EPCOT

Even with the schedule adjustment, the Flower & Garden Festival remains one of the most visually impressive events at Walt Disney World.

Running from March 4 through June 1, the festival celebrates spring with elaborate topiary sculptures, themed gardens, and entertainment throughout EPCOT.

Guests entering the park are greeted by massive floral displays featuring beloved Disney and Pixar characters. Some of this year’s highlights include Buzz Lightyear and Woody near the entrance, as well as Simba and his friends near the Imagination Pavilion.

Across World Showcase, more characters appear in plant form, including Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Lady and the Tramp.

The displays are created by Disney’s horticulture teams and are widely considered the centerpiece of the festival.

Gardens and Scavenger Hunts

Beyond the topiaries, EPCOT fills with themed gardens showcasing plants from around the world.

Guests can explore everything from tropical displays to educational exhibits focused on pollination and conservation.

One of the most popular attractions each year is Butterfly Landing, where guests walk through a garden filled with live butterflies fluttering among flowering plants.

Families can also take part in Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt. Participants search for hidden Spike the Bee statues throughout the park and receive a prize after completing the challenge.

These interactive elements help make the festival appealing to both adults and children.

Live Music and Festival Atmosphere

Music also plays a major role in the Flower & Garden experience.

The Garden Rocks Concert Series returns for 2026 with nightly performances at the America Gardens Theatre in the American Adventure Pavilion.

Artists perform multiple times each evening, giving guests the opportunity to catch a show while exploring the park.

Meanwhile, Spaceship Earth adds to the nighttime atmosphere with festival-themed lighting displays as part of EPCOT’s Beacon of Magic program.

Together, the music and lighting give EPCOT a lively evening atmosphere during the festival months.

Why the Operating Change Matters

Although the new booth hours may seem like a small adjustment, they highlight how Disney continues to refine its festival operations.

EPCOT festivals attract massive crowds on weekends, while midweek attendance can be more moderate. Adjusting booth hours may allow Disney to better match staffing and resources with guest demand.

From an operational standpoint, it’s a relatively subtle change.

From a guest perspective, though, it slightly reduces the amount of time available to enjoy festival food during part of the week.

For many EPCOT visitors, sampling dishes from multiple booths is a major part of the festival experience.

Spring Still Belongs to EPCOT

Despite the schedule change, the Flower & Garden Festival continues to deliver the vibrant spring atmosphere that has made it so popular with Disney fans.

The gardens, topiaries, live concerts, and festival food offerings combine to create an experience that feels unique among Walt Disney World events.

Guests still have plenty of time to enjoy the festival before it concludes on June 1.

But if you’re planning a midweek visit, you may want to plan your booth hopping carefully—because one of EPCOT’s most popular festivals is now operating on a slightly tighter schedule.
