Disney Park Pushes Reopening Back an Entire Year
One Disney park has quietly pushed back a promised reopening by nearly an entire year.
At EPCOT, Frozen Ever After reopened this week following updates to its audio-animatronics. Over at Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been offline for an extended refurbishment, with aging track sections replaced and effects modernized.

In Anaheim, Disneyland Resort continues to juggle operational adjustments. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance reopens to guests in Galaxy’s Edge tomorrow, and Jungle Cruise is scheduled to close starting February 17.
Disney typically provides at least a rough reopening window when announcing downtime. More often than not, those deadlines hold. That consistency makes the latest delay stand out.
Restaurant Terrace Reopening Slips by Nearly a Year at Disney Park
At Tokyo DisneySea — frequently hailed by enthusiasts as the crown jewel of Disney’s global portfolio — the reopening of the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge’s terrace seating has been postponed until April 1, 2027.
The outdoor space was originally slated to welcome guests back on April 8, 2026.

No formal explanation has been offered by Tokyo Disney Resort regarding the revised timeline. For a resort known for meticulous planning and operational discipline, the silence has fueled speculation online.
Guest reaction has been swift. As one user wrote on X, “Is there no one around, or is there no motivation…?”
The terrace closed in November alongside the rest of the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge. While the interior is set to reopen in April, the outdoor seating area will now remain inaccessible for nearly an additional year.

For returning visitors and repeat guests — a major segment of Tokyo DisneySea’s audience — the terrace has long been considered a coveted respite from the park’s dense foot traffic.
An Iconic Lounge in a High-Demand Park
The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge sits within the American Waterfront port of call, one of DisneySea’s most meticulously detailed lands. Its aesthetic channels early 20th-century Americana, blending maritime nostalgia with presidential lore.
As the resort explains: “This lounge, with the atmosphere of an upscale early 20th century social club, is named after the great American adventurer and leader, President Theodore Roosevelt, nicknamed ‘Teddy,'” the park explains on its website. “While he achieved many great things, the four wooden carved bears in the lounge are also inspired by anecdotes about President Roosevelt.”

Nearby, guests can find Tower of Terror — a version distinct from its American counterparts and free of any Twilight Zone theming — alongside Turtle Talk and Toy Story Mania!. The DisneySea Electric Railway also operates from the area, serving as both transportation and kinetic scenery.
Congestion has been a persistent challenge at Tokyo DisneySea, particularly following the addition of new attractions. Soaring: Fantastic Flight and Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey have regularly posted some of the resort’s longest waits.
In January, Soaring: Fantastic Flight reached a record-breaking 6.5-hour queue.
For a resort widely regarded as the gold standard in theme park operations, the delay underscores a rare misstep in expectation management. Whether the cause is construction complexity, staffing constraints, or broader capital priorities remains unclear.
