No Entry: EPCOT Mexico Pavilion Area Now Closed, Access Restricted

Walt Disney World Resort guests, listen up, because this change could impact your upcoming vacation. As of Tuesday, February 10, a significant portion of the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT is now closed, and guest access to the area is severely restricted. Here’s what Central Florida Disney Park guests need to know.

On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that one of the entrances and exits to the interior of the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT is now blocked. This area, nestled inside the large pyramid at the center of the World Showcase Pavilion, is home to the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros boat ride, San Angel Inn Restaurante, and most of the small shops offering Mexico-exclusive souvenirs.

The closure affects the left side of the building when facing it from the outside. Gray metal scaffolding and scrim surround the now-closed door. Two large support beams sit behind a sign on the inside, which reads “please use an alternate exit.”

A piece of beige/tan scrim, colored to match the pyramid, covers a large hole in the side of the building, indicating that crews are performing some kind of ductwork or other maintenance. They don’t appear to have touched any of the Aztec-inspired carvings or paintwork on the exterior of the pyramid structure.

The Future of the Project

Walt Disney World Resort has not made any public comments about this maintenance work in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion or indicated when the doors will reopen to EPCOT guests. This is standard for minor refurbishment projects around the Disney parks, which are typically completed without any published timelines or scopes.

For now, EPCOT guests should use the right-side entrance (left-side exit) when shopping, dining, or heading to ride the iconic boat ride in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion.
