Disney Announces Closure of ‘The Little Mermaid’ Ride, Effective February 23
A family-friendly attraction inspired by The Little Mermaid (1989) will shut down for an indefinite refurbishment next month at Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Resort hasn’t announced when Jumpin’ Jellyfish will reopen, leaving Southern California Disney Park guests uncertain about when they can experience the Paradise Gardens Park ride once again.
Final Day to Ride The Little Mermaid Attraction is February 22

Disneyland Resort recently updated its website, confirming that Jumpin’ Jellyfish will close for refurbishment beginning Monday, February 23, 2026. The Paradise Gardens Park attraction’s final operating day is Sunday, February 22.
The official website calendar extends only through March 3, 2026, with no operational hours listed for Jumpin’ Jellyfish during that period. Disneyland Resort hasn’t publicly disclosed a reopening date or shared details about planned maintenance work on the attraction.
Jumpin’ Jellyfish is a carnival-style ride designed for young children—what Disney calls “little guppies.” Guests board jellyfish-shaped vehicles that bounce and ascend up to 40 feet in a parachute-style experience. The attraction’s name references one of Sebastian’s iconic lines from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Little Mermaid.
Multiple Disney California Adventure Park Refurbishments

Jumpin’ Jellyfish isn’t the only Disney California Adventure Park attraction undergoing maintenance to start the New Year. Incredicoaster and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind both closed January 5, 2026, for refurbishment. Fortunately, both will reopen before Jumpin’ Jellyfish shuts down. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind returns on January 23, with Incredicoaster following on January 6.
Grizzly River Run also closed on January 5 and, like Jumpin’ Jellyfish, is expected to remain shuttered through at least March 3, 2026. The river rapids ride typically undergoes annual refurbishment during colder months, but usually reopens in time for spring break crowds at Disneyland Resort.
