‘Stranger Things’: Countdown To Official New Chapter Has Begun

Just weeks after the fifth and final season of the long-running series concluded, Stranger Things is about to return — but this time, in the world of gaming.

Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things Chapter 2 launches on January 27, marking the second collaboration between the Netflix series and the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game.

This time, players can face off against Vecna or survive as familiar characters including Eleven, Dustin, Steve, Robin, and Eddie, while navigating the eerie fog of the Upside Down. Watch the official trailer for the game below:

“Following the previous Stranger Things Chapter released in 2019, which featured The Demogorgon, Steve Harrington, and Nancy Wheeler, the world of the acclaimed Netflix series continued to expand,” the official synopsis for the game reads.

It continues: “Character arcs developed and new threats were introduced, with the fourth season introducing the most formidable threat to date. Henry Creel. 001. Vecna. The First. He goes by many names, but his goal remains the same: to spread the corruption of the Upside Down and reshape humanity as he sees fit. Though the threat he poses is of a world-ending scale, the people of Hawkins will not stand idly by. Dustin and Eleven have been instrumental in preventing Vecna’s villainous scheme from coming to fruition, proving that heart, wit, and a fair bit of psychic power can turn the tides in the darkest hour.”

“As the story of Stranger Things winds to a close, a dark new Chapter opens in The Fog. Standing at the center is Henry Creel, known in-game as The First…”

This isn’t the only new Stranger Things content on the horizon, though. Later this year, Tales From ’85, a 3D animated series, will premiere on the streamer. Meanwhile, a live-action spinoff is also reportedly in development, signaling that the Stranger Things universe will continue to grow long after the main flagship series concluded.

With all that said, Season 5 itself has sparked plenty of debate. While it officially ended the main story, some fans felt dissatisfied and even launched petitions demanding an extended cut, while the viral “fake ending” theory—also dubbed Conformity Gate—claimed that Netflix would drop a secret episode on January 7, which never materialized.

Fans even tried to bolster the theory with self-made countdowns and elaborate speculation, but the online frenzy has mostly fizzled. Now, with official projects like Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things Chapter 2, the franchise continues to experiment with new formats, letting fans interact with Hawkins in ways that go beyond the Netflix screens.

For those hoping to step into the Upside Down again, the game’s official timer confirms the next adventure is just around the corner.
