Disneyland Demolishes Ticketing Structure, Beginning in December

The City of Anaheim has given Disneyland Resort the green light to tear down a former restaurant building and two ticket booth structures in the Downtown Disney District. The demolished space will eventually become home to a new bakery that was announced three years ago.

Permit Approval Clears Way for Construction at Disneyland

City officials issued three separate demolition permits to Disneyland Resort on December 8, following an April 2025 application. The permits—numbered BLD2025-01762, BLD2025-01763, and BLD2025-01764—are valid through December 8, 2026, according to Anaheim’s municipal permit tracking system.

Permit 01762 authorizes the complete teardown of the building that previously housed La Brea Bakery, a 2,610-square-foot structure. Disneyland Resort’s demolition plans include disconnecting all utilities connected to the property and removing the entire foundation of the former bakery location.

The remaining two permits, 01763 and 01764, cover the removal of ticket booth structures identified in resort documentation as #7 and #8. Each booth measures 865 square feet and will be fully demolished, including the disconnection of utilities and extraction of the foundation.

From La Brea Bakery to Porto’s

La Brea Bakery shuttered its Downtown Disney location in 2023. The space didn’t remain vacant for long—Earl of Sandwich moved in temporarily, first operating as a Quick Service dining location before transitioning to a Table Service restaurant called Earl of Sandwich Tavern. That concept has since closed to make room for the incoming bakery.

Porto’s Bakery was first announced as a future tenant of Downtown Disney back in 2022. Rosa Porto started the bakery in her home before expanding to six brick-and-mortar locations throughout the region, serving Cuban-influenced pastries, empanadas, cheese rolls, and signature desserts, such as the Milk & Berries cake.

Construction Timeline Remains Unclear

After a two-year silence following the initial 2022 announcement, Porto’s Bakery confirmed in 2024 that the Disneyland Resort location remained in active development. The original target opening was set for 2025, though that timeline has clearly shifted.

Earlier in December, Porto’s Bakery released updated concept art showing the Downtown Disney storefront design and confirmed construction activities had commenced. Neither the Porto family nor Disneyland Resort has provided a revised grand opening date for the location.

Guests visiting Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, or Downtown Disney can expect ongoing construction activity as the project moves forward.
