Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is known for being one of the most relaxing corners of Walt Disney World, but things are about to feel even better for guests who love spending their afternoons by the water. The resort’s main recreation zone—home to the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool—is officially in the middle of a major upgrade that will completely change the way guests enjoy the area.

Disney has confirmed that the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool is being expanded in a big way, and that the transformation will bring far more space and new recreational offerings to the resort. The most notable addition is a brand-new zero-entry pool, which will sit right next to the existing pool. This new space will effectively double the pool area, giving families much more room to spread out, splash around, and relax during warm Florida afternoons.
A zero-entry design also adds a level of accessibility that many guests appreciate. Kids can walk straight into the shallow end, older guests avoid difficult steps, and the whole feature adds a fresh, modern feel to one of Disney’s most rustic resorts.
The update doesn’t end with the pool itself. Disney is also adding a tennis court and two pickleball courts, expanding the resort’s long list of outdoor activities. These new amenities fit right in with the spirit of Fort Wilderness, where families spend full days biking, fishing, exploring trails, or simply unwinding away from the theme parks.

Construction is already in progress, and Disney has given guests a better idea of what to expect. The expansion is currently scheduled to be completed in mid-2026, meaning work will continue through next year. Even so, both the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and the quieter Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will remain open during this time, ensuring guests can still cool off during their stay.
The only real downside is that seating around the Meadow area may be tighter than usual, and guests might notice some construction activity nearby. That’s typical for any resort improvement project, but the payoff will be well worth it once the updated recreation area officially opens.

Once complete, the expanded pool zone will bring more shade, more deck space, and a more comfortable layout that blends perfectly with the laid-back atmosphere Fort Wilderness is known for. It’s a smart update that strengthens the resort without changing the personality fans love.
