Severe Weather Warning Issued For Walt Disney World
Guests planning to experience the enchantment of Walt Disney World should stay informed as a severe weather alert has been issued for the Orlando area, including the magical resort itself.
The National Weather Service has announced that a severe weather advisory will take effect beginning at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, and extend through 9:00 a.m. that same day. Guests can expect brisk conditions, with wind chills dipping as low as 25°F and actual temperatures falling into the high 30s.
These chilly temperatures are sure to impact the experience of many park-goers, prompting the need for warm clothing and possibly even a change in plans. While Disney has plenty to offer year-round, weather conditions can significantly affect the enjoyment of outdoor attractions and events.
Effects on Attractions and Operations

One of the pressing concerns for visitors during severe weather is the potential for closures at various parks. Water parks, in particular, may face operational adjustments due to the cold temperatures.
For instance, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon might close its doors temporarily, following reports that Universal Orlando Resort decided to close its Volcano Bay Water Park in response to the harsh climate.
Guests also need to be aware of the current statuses of rides and attractions throughout the park. Although some closures are unrelated to the weather, popular attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad have already been announced for extensive refurbishment, not set to reopen until 2026. Other areas, such as DinoLand U.S.A., are also currently inactive due to ongoing revitalization efforts. While these adjustments are part of maintaining the parks, they can add an element of uncertainty for guests.
As the week progresses, there is hope for a turnaround in weather conditions. Initially, visitors must brace for the cold, but forecasts predict that temperatures will rebound into the 60s and 70s throughout the week. By Sunday, temperatures are expected to reach the high 70s, restoring a more comfortable climate for enjoying all that Walt Disney World has to offer.
Recent Developments at Walt Disney World
Despite the weather-related challenges, there are exciting new developments at Walt Disney World that guests should be aware of. The parks are continually evolving, with new attractions and expansions set to enhance the visitor experience greatly. One notable addition is the recent opening of “Zootopia: Better Zoogether,” a 4D theater show animating the beloved characters from the hit film.
Furthermore, ongoing renovations throughout Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios signal a bright future for visitors, as new rides and attractions await. Feedback from guests has generally been positive regarding these updates, with many expressing excitement about the future improvements and expansions.
