‘The Simpsons’ Reboot Series Episode 1 Arrives on Disney+
More than 35 years after The Simpsons first aired, the iconic animated family from Springfield is finding new life in an unexpected place — inside Fortnite.
The newly released trailer for “Fortnite × The Simpsons: Welcome to Springfield” shows the famous yellow family and their hometown reimagined in stunning cel-shaded 3D. The footage opens with a re-created version of the show’s classic intro — faithful to both the long-running series and the game itself — before players are dropped into a Springfield filled with familiar sights — from the Nuclear Power Plant and the Kwik-E-Mart to the Simpson family home itself. It’s a big step for the franchise, and one that will introduce The Simpsons to a new generation of fans. With the crossover running for a limited time before the next Fortnite season, millions of players will be engaging with Homer and his family for the first time in years — many of them too young to have watched the show’s golden era or the 2007 movie. Here’s the description for the new Simpsons event, per the official Fortnite website:
“Drop from the Battle Bus into… Springfield? The 80-player Springfield Island features a fast-paced, back-to-basics Battle Royale experience straight from the minds behind The Simpsons. Giant donuts will fall from the sky and angry clones will roam the streets, but don’t worry, Homer Simpson is in charge. Check out Delulu for new Simpsons weapons during the Season and prepare for a month of gags, gadgets, and Simpsons animated shorts!”
Those animated shorts can be found on Disney+ either by searching for “The Simpsons” or heading to The Simpsons Collection. Episode 1 is now already streaming:
- November 1 – “Apocalypse D’Oh”
- November 10 – “Sugar High”
- November 17 – “Multiplidiocy”
- November 24 – “The Incredible Bulk”
Fortnite is giving Springfield a whole new stage. Between the slick 3D animation, interactive gameplay, and nostalgic touches, it’s clear that The Simpsons’ legacy is far from over. Decades after redefining TV comedy, the world’s most famous animated family is once again adapting — and welcoming a new audience to the town they’ve called home for more than three decades.
Meanwhile, Disney has announced that another Simpsons movie in development. Scheduled for release in 2027, it will be the franchise’s second theatrical installment following the 2007 film, The Simpsons Movie.
