REPORT: Cause of Death Revealed for Third Disney World Guest To Die This Month
Authorities have confirmed the cause of death for a 28-year-old man who died last week at Walt Disney World Resort, marking the third death to occur on Central Florida Disney property within a single month.
Medical Examiner Confirms Findings
According to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, the man, identified as 28-year-old Matthew Cohn, died on October 23, 2025, after falling from Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. On Monday, a representative told TMZ that Cohn’s death resulted from multiple traumatic injuries and was officially ruled a suicide. The Sun reported that Cohn checked into a room on the 12th floor on the evening of October 22 and paid in cash before the incident occurred.

Witnesses staying at the Contemporary Resort described a large emergency response that evening. Last Thursday, Disney Dining reported that ambulances and other first responders arrived at the scene, with roadways around the hotel temporarily blocked. Guests said Disney cast members instructed families not to look out the windows facing the rear of the property. According to multiple accounts, white tents, towel carts, and other objects were positioned to block the view of the area.
A video shared by TikTok user @aoitfamily showed a cordoned-off section near the Bay Lake Tower pool area surrounded by crime scene tape. The social media user said families asking about the incident were told it was a “medical emergency.”
@aiotfamily We woke up to a VERY large law enforcement outside our balcony this morning at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. We were told it was a “medical emergency”. Prayers to the family & those involved! 🙏 #disneyworld #baylaketower
Third Death at Disney World in Ten Days

This heartbreaking loss comes after two additional deaths at Walt Disney World Resort earlier in the month. On October 14, authorities responded to reports of an emergency at Disney’s Contemporary Resort after rumors spread online of a Monorail collision. Officials later clarified that 31-year-old Summer Equitz had died by suicide after falling from a balcony at the resort, confirming that the Monorail was not involved in the incident.

Then, on October 21, another death was reported at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. Law enforcement officials confirmed that a man in his 60s had died of natural causes after suffering a medical episode while visiting the Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
