Disney World has officially announced the permanent closure of one of its unique attractions. The beloved Avatar action figure creation experience, located inside Windtraders at Pandora – The World of Avatar, ceased operations on October 1, 2025. This experience had been a part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom since the park’s expansion in 2017, allowing guests to bring a piece of the magical world home with them.
The heartfelt farewell to this attraction follows several years of operation that offered fans a chance to immerse themselves in the world of Avatar like never before. This closure marks a significant change for Disney fans who enjoyed this delightful and interactive feature of the park.

The Avatar figure experience provided a unique blend of technology and personalization. Using advanced facial scanning technology, guests could sit down for a quick scan that would capture their likeness, allowing them to create a figure that truly represented them. Following the scan, participants could choose from a variety of customization options, including hair type, eye color, and striped patterns that emulated the Na’vi culture from the Avatar film. This engaging process allowed guests to feel a deeper connection to their custom figures, embodying their own unique Avatar.
Once guests completed their selections, they were informed that the figure would need approximately one hour to “grow.” This waiting period not only built excitement but also created a memorable experience as guests anticipated the unveiling of their one-of-a-kind creation.
Despite the innovative nature of the Avatar experience, it struggled with attendance and public reception, leading to significant pricing concerns.
Earlier in 2025, Disney had to implement discounts that drastically reduced the price of a custom Avatar figure from $79.99 to just $50. These discounts hinted at the experience’s declining popularity and the difficulties it faced in attracting guests.
The situation raised eyebrows among Disney enthusiasts, especially when comparing it to similar experiences within the park. While the Lightsaber experience at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge retained a strong following, the Avatar experience struggled to match that level of interest. This dichotomy in public reception highlighted the distinct differences in guest engagement across the various immersive experiences that Disney offers.
