Unexpected Disney Resort Delay Could Impact Your Next Vacation Plans

Walt Disney World is known for its constant evolution, but sometimes that progress means guests are greeted with more scaffolding than pixie dust. The latest example comes from Disney’s Beach Club Resort, where a significant refurbishment project has just been hit with an unexpected delay.

A Project That Needs More Time

Beach Club, famous for its New England charm and its unbeatable location near EPCOT, has been undergoing extensive work across its property. The port cochere area, which was originally expected to reopen by September 2025, is now slated to remain under construction until late November. Cast Members have confirmed that while the crews are steadily making progress, visitors will need to put up with walls and alternate pathways a little longer than planned.

The silver lining is that the delay is only a matter of weeks, not months. Still, families checking in this fall should prepare for a resort experience with a few detours.

What the Construction Means for Guests

During daytime hours, the signs of refurbishment are hard to miss. From equipment to scaffolding, it’s clear that Disney is tackling a full-scale project. While some room views may be impacted and walkways shifted, key services remain untouched. Valet, luggage assistance, pools, and restaurants are all still in operation, ensuring that guests can enjoy the essentials without disruption.

Steady Progress Behind the Scenes

Observers have noticed new windows already installed along parts of the roof, which suggests that construction is steadily moving through its stages. Though the finish line is still a ways off—the entire project is expected to wrap in 2027—the updates aim to keep Beach Club one of Disney’s premier deluxe resorts.

Beach Club Isn’t Alone

This delay is part of a larger trend across Walt Disney World resorts. Polynesian Village Resort is in the midst of adding a massive Disney Vacation Club tower, the BoardWalk Inn is freshening up its lobby and dining, and Animal Kingdom Lodge is seeing exterior painting and balcony repairs. Guests booking deluxe resorts should expect to see some level of construction almost anywhere they stay.

Should You Book Anyway?

Beach Club still has big perks—its proximity to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and access to Stormalong Bay, one of the best pools at Disney World. For some families, those benefits outweigh the inconvenience of construction. Others may prefer the neighboring Yacht Club or the Swan and Dolphin for a calmer stay.

The Takeaway

Delays like this highlight the constant balance between maintaining Disney’s magic and keeping the resort fresh. Guests arriving in the coming weeks may need patience, but once the walls finally come down, the results should be worth it.
