Disney Begins Construction at Hollywood Studios with More Attractions Closing

Changes at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios continues to undergo significant renovations as part of Disney’s strategy to revitalize the park. Major attractions like Muppets Vision 3D have already closed to make way for new experiences. Closing longstanding favorites signals a significant shift towards a more modern lineup of attractions. Future expansions are planned, with substantial changes on the horizon.

As part of these updates, two notable attractions—Animation Courtyard and Star Wars Launch Bay—are set to close, making way for new developments. These changes reflect Disney’s commitment to refreshing its park offerings while meeting visitor expectations.

Closing of Animation Courtyard

The Animation Courtyard has held special significance since Hollywood Studios opened. It once served as a mark of the park’s animation legacy, featuring stunning architecture and exhibits highlighting Disney animation’s artistry. Unfortunately, this nostalgia will close on September 25, leaving visitors just a few days to experience it. The closing marks the end of an era for Hollywood Studios as the area gears up for a makeover.

In its place, Disney plans to develop new attractions under the upcoming “Magic of Disney Animation” brand. This revamp aims to provide a modern space for interactive drawing classes, new character meet-and-greet areas, and the potential return of beloved Disney symbols like Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat. The transformation is expected to offer fresh experiences for guests while maintaining the creative spirit that defined the original Animation Courtyard.

Transition from Star Wars Launch Bay

Star Wars Launch Bay is also set to close as part of the ongoing renovations. Guests have enjoyed immersive experiences within this section, celebrating the beloved Star Wars franchise.
However, as Hollywood Studios continues to evolve, the focus will shift to the new “Magic of Disney Animation.”

This upcoming area promises engaging activities and attractions to enhance the visitor experience. In addition to drawing classes, guests can anticipate delightful interactions with beloved Disney characters. The creation of this new space signifies Disney’s ongoing commitment to drawing in families and fans of all ages, ensuring that Hollywood Studios remains a destination known for fun and creativity.

Muppets Transformation and New Projects

Alongside the closures of Animation Courtyard and Star Wars Launch Bay, the ongoing transformation of the Muppets franchise is notable. Following the closure of Muppets Vision 3D, the beloved characters are set to relocate to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, formerly home to Aerosmith. This change is also part of the broader revitalization efforts at Hollywood Studios.

Disney is not stopping with just the Muppets. Numerous construction projects are underway throughout the park, including pathway updates between popular areas like Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. Though details about the specifics of these projects remain mostly under wraps, the continuous construction and transformation work signal an exciting future for Hollywood Studios.

In summary, as two attractions come to a close, Hollywood Studios enters a new chapter filled with promise and potential. The anticipated new offerings, including the “Magic of Disney Animation” and the Muppets’ transition, suggest that visitors will continue to experience the magic that Disney parks are known for.
