After Three Years, Sesame Place To End Operations in 2025

Sesame Place San Diego is set to close its doors indefinitely on September 21, 2025. On Monday, the SeaWorld-owned theme park confirmed that it will switch to seasonal operations and reopen sometime in 2026.

The California vacation destination opened in March 2022, transforming from a water park into a family-friendly amusement park themed entirely around Sesame Street. Over the years, the property has operated under several different names and ownerships, including Aquatic San Diego under SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Knott’s Soak City U.S.A. – San Diego under Cedar Fair, and White Water Canyon as an independent park. Sesame Place San Diego was also the first theme park in the world to launch as a certified autism center through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

By focusing on our most popular times of year, we can deliver the best possible experience from the moment guests arrive until the moment they leave. The park’s final operating day for this season will be Sunday, September 21, and we look forward to welcoming friends and families back in Spring 2026!

To honor current 2025 Season Pass Holders and ensure continued value, the park is providing each pass holder with a complimentary SeaWorld Fun Card valid through the remainder of the year.
