Halloween Horror Nights Faces Multiple Complaints of Performer Assaults

Halloween Horror Nights, the annual immersive horror experience at Universal Studios, is under scrutiny this year following multiple complaints alleging that scare actors have been physically assaulted while performing. While the event is celebrated for its high-energy scares and interactive encounters, these reports highlight growing safety concerns for the performers who bring the frights to life.

A Former Scare Actor Details Assaults

Central to the news, one former scare actor spoke candidly about the dangers performers face: “As a former scare actor, I’ve had tequila thrown in my mask twice and been punched in the face and slapped multiple times. Don’t go to a scare attraction if you don’t like being scared or can’t conduct yourself like an adult.” This firsthand account underscores the risks inherent in engaging directly with guests in an interactive horror setting.

Halloween Horror Nights employs dozens of actors tasked with creating thrilling, unforgettable experiences for guests across multiple Universal Studios parks. While the interactive nature of the event is part of its appeal, these incidents show the fine line performers must walk between delivering scares and protecting themselves from aggressive guests.

Several reports this season have specifically involved the character of Art, drawing attention from both fans and safety advocates. Although incidents of guest misconduct are relatively rare, the accumulation of complaints this year has intensified calls for stricter safeguards and increased awareness among attendees.

Universal’s Response

Universal Studios has not yet issued a public statement addressing the specific allegations. However, the company maintains strict policies prohibiting guest aggression toward performers, emphasizing that both actors and other guests should be treated with respect during the event.

As the Halloween season continues, the focus remains on how Universal will respond to these reports. With immersive horror events rising in popularity, ensuring the safety of scare actors while maintaining the thrilling experience for guests remains a key challenge for the industry.
