Disney Announces New “Virtual Vacations” for Budget-Conscious Fans

Let’s be real—visiting Disneyland has never been cheap. Between flights, hotels, tickets, and snacks, the price of experiencing that Disney magic in person can stack up fast. For many fans, it’s a dream that just feels out of reach. But Disney may have just thrown us all a lifeline.

Starting this week, you can now “visit” Disneyland for just $10.99. No, that’s not a typo—and no, it doesn’t require a discount code, secret travel hack, or off-season deal. It’s a brand-new kind of experience that allows fans to bring the magic home.

Disneyland… From Your Couch?

To celebrate Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, Disney has added a huge batch of new content to Disney+. But it’s not just behind-the-scenes specials or animated tributes. These are immersive, first-person videos that make you feel like you’re actually in the parks. Whether it’s walking through Avengers Campus or riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, this is the closest thing to being there without scanning your MagicBand.

The best part? It’s all included with your Disney+ subscription.

These ride-throughs and land walkarounds aren’t your typical shaky-cam fan videos. We’re talking full Disney production quality. Think sweeping camera angles, nighttime shows like Wondrous Journeys, and crystal-clear audio as you coast through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or cruise the waters of Pirates of the Caribbean.

And for Star Wars fans? Two new Galaxy’s Edge experiences just dropped, including a full ride-through of Rise of the Resistance—restored effects and all.

Why It Works

This is more than just nostalgia bait. These “virtual vacations” offer something surprisingly fresh. They give longtime fans a way to relive their favorite attractions, while also introducing the parks to new generations in a low-cost, low-stress way. It’s not a replacement for the real thing—but it’s a pretty great stand-in.

And who knows? If the response is strong, this could be just the beginning. Virtual drops for Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, or holiday overlays could be coming next.

For now, though, the Disney+ library just got a whole lot more magical—and affordable.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
