Disney World Changes Magic Kingdom Access This Summer
As summer unfolds at Walt Disney World Resort, Magic Kingdom Park is ushering in a new era while keeping the magic alive for guests visiting from around the globe. As the world’s most visited theme park, Magic Kingdom continues to blend the timeless storytelling of Disney’s iconic characters with unforgettable attractions and entertainment offerings.
Big changes are on the horizon in Frontierland, where Disney Experiences is reimagining the area with a Piston Peak National Park retheme inspired by Cars. As part of the transformation, guests said goodbye to two classic attractions, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat, which welcomed their final visitors on July 6. These experiences officially retired on July 7, paving the way for the new vision ahead.
Even as construction begins behind the scenes, Disney ensures that the summer season is filled with magic for all ages. Guests staying at Deluxe Resorts can continue to enjoy the popular Extended Evening Hours, while those visiting EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom can dive into seasonal offerings like Cool Kid Summer, bringing added fun to their vacation adventures.
One of the biggest highlights this season arrives on Sunday, July 20, 2025, with the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, a dazzling new nighttime parade lighting up Magic Kingdom Park. Featuring beloved stories such as Moana, Frozen, and Peter Pan, the parade will be presented twice nightly at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., allowing more opportunities for guests to enjoy this spectacular new entertainment.
In preparation for the new parade, Disney has adjusted the Magic Kingdom’s operating hours. Previously listed through August 2, the extended 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. hours will now continue through August 30, with Early Theme Park Entry for onsite resort guests starting at 8:30 a.m. Additionally, Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe Resort guests on August 13 will now take place from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., following the updated closing time.
The long-term vision for the area known as “Beyond Big Thunder” is also generating excitement, with a Disney Villains-themed location on the horizon. Though details remain limited, more information is expected at this year’s Destination D23 and the D23 Expo in 2026.
From fresh nighttime offerings to sweeping park transformations, the Magic Kingdom continues to evolve while celebrating the stories that inspire generations of Disney fans.
