“That Can’t Be Legal”—Guests Furious Over Disney Policy

Disney World runs like a well-oiled machine, but that comes at the cost of tight rules. Every show, meal, and ride has its own schedule, and even the most laid-back experiences have limits. It’s all part of keeping the parks efficient, but sometimes those rules feel more frustrating than helpful.

And nowhere is that more evident than in a galaxy far, far away.

The 45-Minute Cantina Countdown

Oga’s Cantina has been a must-visit spot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge since it opened in 2019. But there’s a catch: guests only get 45 minutes inside. It doesn’t matter if you’re halfway through a Bespin Fizz or finally found a corner to lean on—when your time’s up, it’s time to go.

Add in a two-drink maximum, mostly standing-room space, and a fast-paced environment; guests often feel rushed.

At first, the rule made sense. Oga’s was one of the hottest reservations in Walt Disney World. Of course, the time cap helped ensure that more people got a shot at experiencing it. But that policy might not last much longer. There’s a new tavern that is bound to steal the spotlight.

Enter: The Beak and Barrel

There’s a new themed lounge on the horizon, and it might shake things up in a big way. The Beak and Barrel—a Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired tavern—is coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, one of the latest additions. Disney has already confirmed it’ll tie into the pirate lore, and early rumors point to an immersive environment full of nautical flair and themed cocktails.

This new spot is expected to become just as popular as Oga’s, but with a key difference: it could absorb some of the demand that Oga’s has been dealing with solo.

What Happens Next?

With a second immersive bar experience opening on the property, Disney may finally have the breathing room to adjust the guest experience at Oga’s. That could mean longer visit times, looser restrictions, or even the removal of the time limit altogether.

It would be a welcome shift for guests who’ve always felt the clock ticking while trying to enjoy their drinks. For Disney, it’s a chance to elevate the overall lounge experience across the parks.

One Rule That Might Soon Be History

If The Beak and Barrel delivers on the hype, Disney may no longer need to enforce the strict cantina rules with such intensity. Fans can only hope the countdown at Oga’s is finally coming to an end.
