Multiple beloved rides and attractions at Disneyland are set to close for refurbishment during the summer months, creating a ripple effect on the overall experience for visitors. Notable rides that will be offline include the Matterhorn Bobsleds, which has been closed since May, and Star Tours—The Adventures Continue, slated to close on June 30. Such closures lead guests to adjust their expectations, as classic attractions are often at the heart of many visitors’ Disneyland experiences.

Visitors often regard these rides as integral parts of the Disneyland magic. They evoke nostalgia and serve as a rite of passage for families, making their absence felt more acutely. Disneyland regulars and first-time guests alike may find their itineraries changing as ride closures reshape the landscape of available attractions during their summer visits.

The schedule for refurbishments showcases several classic Disneyland rides temporarily unavailable to guests. Alongside the Matterhorn and Star Tours, the Pixar Pal-A-Round will close from July 14 to July 24, while Main Street Cinema is expected to shut its doors from July 15 to July 17. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and Storybook Land Canal Boats will also take a break on July 21.

Despite the uncertainty of reopening for some attractions, there are a few key dates eagerly anticipated by Disneyland enthusiasts.
For instance, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is set to resume operations on August 17.
Meanwhile, the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction is undergoing significant updates and will remain closed until after Disneyland’s 70th anniversary to make way for a new show titled “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” debuting on July 17.

These refurbishments are essential to maintaining the enchantment of Disneyland, offering cleaned-up, updated experiences that ensure guests can create fresh memories on their visits.

This summer marks the beginning of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration, a nostalgic yet exciting time for the park and its guests. This celebration, which commenced in May, will continue through 2026, offering numerous limited-time dining and shopping experiences that reflect on the park’s rich history and vibrant future.

During this anniversary, guests can enjoy exclusive attractions and shows that provide a deeper look into the magic of Disneyland. With the excitement of special event-themed décor and unique menu items, visitors will have the chance to celebrate alongside beloved Disney characters and partake in various activities designed to commemorate the park’s long-standing legacy.

While some classics will temporarily close, the future of Disneyland attractions still looks bright. The introduction of new experiences, such as “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” shows that Disneyland is committed to both nostalgia and innovation. This blending of old and new is essential for keeping the magic alive and appealing to both seasoned fans and newcomers.

Disney has also signaled intentions to explore upgrades and changes to their iconic rides. This might include everything from enhanced technology in attractions to storytelling improvements in existing narratives. The aim is to preserve the charm of classic attractions while ensuring that they remain relevant and captivating for future generations.
