Warning: These Disney Hotel Issues Could Ruin Your Vacation

If you’ve got a Disney resort stay coming up, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind before you zip up your suitcase and head to Orlando. It’s still magical, yes—but some guests have hit a few unexpected bumps. Here’s what’s changing and how to be ready for it.

Don’t Count on Late-Night Food Options

One of the biggest frustrations guests are running into? Food—or the lack of it. Most Disney resort food courts are closing up shop by 10 or 11 p.m. That might not sound bad, but if the parks are open until 10 (or later), you could miss your chance to grab dinner altogether.

By the time you wait for a bus or monorail and finally get back to your resort, your options may be limited to vending machines. Traditional room service? It’s basically gone at most resorts unless you’re staying at the Grand Floridian.

Quick Tip: Pack snacks or mobile order from a park before you leave. Don’t assume there’ll be a sandwich waiting when you get back.

The Disney App Might Boot You from Your Room

This one’s kind of wild—some guests are reporting that the My Disney Experience app is automatically checking them out of their rooms. And not just in theory. One guest left their room on check-out day to grab brunch and returned to find their room cleaned out… bags gone, bed made, and their vacation effectively over.

Apparently, the app thought they had left for good. Disney Cast Members helped file a report, but not all of the items were recovered. That’s a rough way to end your trip.

Quick Tip: If you’re planning to return to your room after stepping out on check-out day, leave your bags with Bell Services just in case. The app doesn’t always wait until 11 a.m. to make moves.

Guests Say the “Magic” Perks Are Starting to Disappear

Disney hotels have always been known for their little extra touches, especially compared to off-property spots. But lately, some guests feel like those touches are fading. Room service is mostly gone, the little magical surprises are fewer and farther between, and the overall vibe feels… well, less premium.

You’re still paying premium prices, though. And when that balance feels off, guests notice.

Quick Tip: Know what to expect before you arrive. If you’re dreaming of plush service and endless extras, it might be time to reset those expectations just a bit.

Is It Still Worth Staying On-Site?

It depends. There are still a ton of perks to staying at a Disney hotel—proximity to the parks, Early Theme Park Entry, immersive theming—but you’ll want to be prepared for some of the common hiccups.

Bring snacks, double-check food court hours, don’t rely too heavily on the app, and make use of Bell Services when needed. That way, you’re not caught off guard by changes that other guests have had to learn the hard way.

Disney hotels aren’t broken—but they are shifting. With a little extra prep, you can still have a great stay. Just don’t expect everything to work exactly the way it used to.
