Mouse to Hero: Mickey Catches Woman’s Airborne Infant at Disneyland

A former Disneyland Resort cast member recently spoke out about his wildest experience working at the parks, and it’s a doozy. Comedian Brad Williams told a story about a mother throwing her infant at Mickey Mouse during an appearance on the “Rulebreakers” podcast.

Williams called the experience his “craziest Disney story.” He was working as a character attendant for Mickey Mouse when the incident occurred.

“There’s a time where you’re out there with Mickey and then a half hour goes by and it’s really hot outside,” Williams said, implying that the character performer who is “friends” with Mickey Mouse needed a break. “So you gotta take Mickey away.”

“Whatever, the person inside is hot,” one of the hosts chimed in. Williams nodded.

“So we have to improv, and we go like, ‘Hey, Mickey’s going to go get a quick glass of lemonade and then he’s going to be right back out here. We’ll do some more pictures and autographs. So just stay right here,'” the former Disney cast member explained. “And I start to take him away.”

As Williams and Mickey Mouse walked away, a woman approached them.

“No, no, no, one photo, one photo,” she pleaded.

Williams tried to give her a knowing glance.

“Hey. Stay right here,” he said. “Mickey will be back in 35 seconds. Just be cool.”

But the Disney Park guest wasn’t having it. As Williams and Mickey Mouse walked away, she yelled, “MICKEY!” At that moment, time stood still for everyone involved.

“Mickey turns,” the former cast member recalled. “She was holding a baby, she throws the baby. She lobbed a baby, airborne, slow-motion.”

Fortunately, Mickey Mouse reacted quickly. He held out his arms and caught the baby, and the woman acted as if nothing unusual had occurred.

“She takes the photo…grabs her baby and goes, ‘Thank you,’ and just wanders away,” Williams concluded.

The “Rulebreakers” podcast hosts were just as surprised as Williams and Mickey Mouse.

“What the f**k?” one replied.

If you’re waiting to meet a Disney theme park character and they leave, stay in line. They usually return after just a few moments–it’s Disney magic!
