‘Home Alone’ Attraction Could Appear at Disney Parks in Coming Years

If you’ve ever walked through Disneyland or Disney World and thought, “Why isn’t there a Home Alone attraction?”, you’re not alone.

With Disney owning the rights to the beloved 1990 holiday classic, the idea isn’t far-fetched, especially given the wave of major expansions and other Disney Parks projects currently underway around the world.

Between Disneyland Paris preparing to debut its rebranded Disney Adventure World, Disney World undergoing multiple overhauls, and a brand-new Disneyland being built in Abu Dhabi, there are more opportunities than ever to mine Disney’s 20th Century Studios library. And yet, Home Alone still doesn’t have any sort of presence in the parks.

Imagine a queue that winds through the booby-trapped McCallister house. Micro Machines underfoot. Paint cans swinging overhead. A ride vehicle styled like a sled bursting through iconic scenes from both the original and the 1992 New York-set sequel. There’s no shortage of scenes to draw from—and guests of all ages know them by heart.

It doesn’t have to be a thrill ride, either—it could be a slow, dark, and immersive ride or walkthrough or a simple seasonal holiday overlay, much like Haunted Mansion Holiday. Even a themed meet-and-greet spot with the Wet Bandits Harry and Marv would attract curious guests. Given the film’s timeless appeal, it’s a missed opportunity not to use it.

You Can Still Experience a Home Alone Ride

A virtual Home Alone ride does exist online (created in Planet Coaster and available on YouTube), and while it’s fun for fans, it’s no substitute for the real thing. If Disney can make entire lands for Frozen and Toy Story, then surely a little room can be found for Kevin McCallister and a couple of bumbling cat burglars with questionable life choices.

With all the construction going on, who’s to say something Home Alone-themed isn’t already on a whiteboard somewhere? After all, stranger ideas have made it into the parks.
