New ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel Is a Huge Improvement on the Previous Film

This summer, the Jurassic franchise is set to take over theaters once more with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), the seventh installment in the $6 billion series. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for blockbuster hits like Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), the film stars Scarlett Johansson as a covert operations expert heading a top-secret mission to a remote dinosaur-infested island in South America.

But with the new film still a few months away, fans have another Jurassic sequel to sink their teeth into in the meantime: Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3.

For fans of the films, this latest season is a treat. The series steps up its game, blending animated thrills with live-action references and taking the story deeper into the world of Jurassic, particularly with the latest film in the series, Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which grossed over $1 billion worldwide but left audiences and critics disappointed.

While we don’t see Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady or Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing return, we do get Dominion characters like Soyona Santos (played by Dichen Lachman) and Lewis Dodgson (Adam Harrington), adding an extra layer of continuity between the animated series and live action.

The show cleverly weaves its plot between the events of Dominion, exploring the aftermath of the chaotic black market in Malta, a key location from the 2022 blockbuster.

What makes this season stand out is its integration of live-action storylines with animation. As Darius, Kenji, Ben, and the rest of the Camp Cretaceous crew embark on their mission to thwart the growing conspiracy surrounding dinosaur trafficking, viewers get a front-row seat to the tension building behind the scenes in Dominion.

This seamless transition makes Chaos Theory feel like a crucial part of the Jurassic saga.
