Jenna Ortega Series Returns With New Trailer, but Actress Is Absent From Latest Season

Jenna Ortega has quickly become a standout name in Hollywood, thanks to her role as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday series. However, her rise to stardom didn’t happen overnight. She had already made waves in other projects, such as her starring roles in Scream (2022) and the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous animated series.

But while her career trajectory continued on an upward spiral, last year, Jurassic fans were shocked when news came that she wouldn’t be reprising her role as teen-vlogger-turned-online-amateur-sleuth Brooklynn in the follow-up series, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.

For fans of Camp Cretaceous, Ortega’s portrayal of Brooklynn, an optimistic character, was a key highlight across all five seasons. However, when Chaos Theory premiered on Netflix last year, fans were taken aback to find that Ortega was no longer voicing the character.

Instead, the character was recast, with Kiersten Kelly stepping in to portray a more mysterious and guarded version of the character. While this change may have come as a shock to many fans, showrunners Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley told IGN that Ortega’s absence was due to her “busy schedule,” making it “impossible” for her to return.

Ortega’s departure from Chaos Theory came alongside another high-profile exit in her career, including her decision to leave Scream 7. While her co-star Melissa Barrera’s exit was due to a firing, Ortega’s Scream 7 exit reportedly came down to scheduling issues. But despite these setbacks, she continues to be a dominant force in Hollywood.

As Jurassic World: Chaos Theory prepares for its third season, fans will have to adjust to the absence of Ortega, as Kelly continues to make Brooklynn her own.

With Chaos Theory Season 3 set to premiere on April 3, the question remains whether Ortega will return to the Jurassic franchise, perhaps even in a live-action capacity, or if her busy schedule will continue to keep her away from beloved roles.

Meanwhile, fans continue to eagerly anticipate Wednesday Season 2, which is expected to arrive sometime later this year.
