Universal is seemingly in the process of building yet another roller coaster inspired by the Jurassic Park franchise.
While there are plenty of attractions and lands inspired by various franchises at Universal’s theme parks, Jurassic Park is by far one of the most prevalent.

At Universal Orlando Resort, for example, Islands of Adventure is home to a Jurassic Park land with three attractions: Jurassic Park River Adventure, Pteranodon Flyers (which is notoriously available only to kids and adults with kids), and the über-thrilling (and extremely popular) roller coaster that is Jurassic World VelociCoaster.
Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood offers Jurassic World: The Ride, and Universal Studios Japan is home to both Jurassic Park: The Ride and The Flying Dinosaur, a unique roller coaster that debuted in 2016.
Over at Universal Studios Singapore, The Lost World features a Jurassic Park sub-area with Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, Canopy Flyer, and Dino-Soarin’. Universal’s newest theme park (until Epic Universe opens, that is), Universal Studios Beijing, is home to two unique attractions: Jurassic World Isla Nublar and Jurassic Flyers.
Universal Starts Work On Yet Another ‘Jurassic Park’ Ride
But it seems like Universal isn’t done with dinosaurs just yet.
Universal has filed a trademark for “Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster,” signaling a potential new attraction at the forthcoming Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas.
The filing, submitted on March 11, 2025, covers amusement park use, specifically for a roller coaster.
The Universal Kids Resort, currently under construction, is a 97-acre development designed for families with young children. Set to open in 2026, the resort will feature six immersive themed lands inspired by popular franchises, including DreamWorks Animation’s franchises Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls, and Gabby’s Dollhouse, as well as Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Illumination’s Minions, and, of course, Jurassic World.
To be specific, this land will seemingly be inspired by the Netflix series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. While initially labeled just “Jurassic World,” the area’s concept art highlights Bumpy, a fan-favorite from the animated series, which has also spawned a sequel show, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Aimed at younger visitors, Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster will likely be a family-friendly coaster. In other words, don’t expect VelociCoaster 2.0.
Other Upcoming Universal Projects
Universal is on a spending spree right now. Epic Universe, a brand-new theme park opening at Universal Orlando Resort on May 22, 2025, will feature multiple themed lands, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and Florida’s third Wizarding World of Harry Potter area.
The company is also diving into standalone attractions, with Universal Horror Unleashed set to open in Las Vegas on August 14, 2025, as part of the city’s Area15 entertainment complex.
Internationally, Universal Beijing Resort is planning a second phase at some point in the future, while the company has also acquired 480 acres of land in Bedford, UK, with talks already underway with the government for Universal’s first British theme park.
