If you thought Valentine’s Day at Disney World would be a romantic and relaxing experience, think again.

On February 14, 2025, Disney Springs saw crowds so massive that parking garages hit capacity, forcing Disney to turn guests away. The entertainment district, which many see as a casual alternative to the theme parks, became just as packed as Magic Kingdom on a holiday weekend.

The good news? Disney Springs is now back to normal operations. Parking is open, guests can visit as usual, and things seem to have settled—for now. However, this incident is just the beginning of what is shaping up to be an extremely crowded weekend at Walt Disney World. With President’s Day on Monday, February 17, visitors should brace for long wait times, packed walkways, and fully booked restaurants throughout the parks and resorts.

Why President’s Day Weekend is So Busy

If you’re wondering why Disney World is this packed, President’s Day weekend is one of the most popular travel times of the year. Many schools, especially in the Northeast, give students a long weekend or an entire week off, making it a prime opportunity for families to visit. The pleasant February weather is another major factor, as guests flock to Florida to escape the cold without dealing with the brutal summer heat.

Beyond general tourism, Disney also hosts several events around this time, including runDisney races and national cheerleading competitions. These bring in thousands of additional visitors, further contributing to the crowd levels at the parks and Disney Springs.

What to Expect for the Rest of the Weekend

Now that Disney Springs has reopened, things should run more smoothly there, but Disney World as a whole will remain extremely busy through Monday. Guests should prepare for extended wait times, packed transportation systems, and limited last-minute reservations. Arriving early and having a plan will be key to making the most of the holiday weekend.
