Power Outage Update: Magic Kingdom Attractions Back in Action
Magic Kingdom is back in business today after experiencing a major power outage that caused several attractions to shut down unexpectedly last night. The disruption left a number of popular rides temporarily closed, causing long wait times and inconvenience for park guests. However, by Tuesday morning, most rides have resumed normal operation, with only a few exceptions.
As of this morning, almost all of the Magic Kingdom attractions are open and running, including classic favorites like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. However, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure remains closed for now, though Disney has indicated that it may reopen later in the day. Astro Orbiter is also still unavailable, as it is undergoing a scheduled refurbishment. The park’s operating hours are unchanged, with the gates open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Attractions Affected by Power Outage
The power issue caused significant disruptions across the park. Many of the most popular rides, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and the Mad Tea Party, were shut down. The outage also affected classic attractions like “it’s a small world,” Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, among others. These rides remained closed for several hours as technicians worked to resolve the issue.
Guests who were in line when the power failure occurred were allowed to remain in their positions, hoping that the rides would reopen. However, for those not already in line, the attractions were temporarily unavailable, and new guests were unable to join the queues. As a result, the limited number of operational rides saw longer wait times than usual, creating a bit of a bottleneck in certain areas of the park.
Remaining Attractions During the Outage

Despite the widespread closures, several attractions remained unaffected by the power outage. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor continued to operate throughout the evening. In addition, Adventureland’s Jungle Cruise and Liberty Square’s Haunted Mansion were among the few rides that were unaffected. The TRON Lightcycle Run and Mickey’s PhilharMagic also stayed open, offering some much-needed respite for guests looking to experience the magic despite the inconvenience.
With so many rides temporarily unavailable, the wait times for those still operational skyrocketed, further increasing the strain on visitors already dealing with the outage. Guests were able to remain in line for rides that had not yet reopened, but no new visitors could join the queues for the affected attractions.
After-Hours Event Uninterrupted by Power Outage
While the outage created significant disruptions for guests earlier in the evening, it didn’t seem to affect the After-Hours party, which was scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Fortunately, many of the rides were back in operation by the time the special event kicked off, allowing attendees to enjoy the park with minimal interruption. The After-Hours event ran until 1 a.m., and by that point, most attractions were up and running, though the lingering impact of the outage had created a busier-than-usual night.
Other Notable Closures
In addition to the power outage, Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square Riverboat was also closed earlier in the day. This closure appeared to be unrelated to the power failure and was likely due to a separate maintenance issue. While this wasn’t as significant as the ride closures caused by the outage, it added to the challenges of an already busy day.
Looking Ahead: Rides Back on Track
Despite the technical issues experienced last night, Magic Kingdom is largely back to normal today, and guests are able to experience most of the attractions once again. The power outage appears to have been an isolated incident, and Disney has not yet provided additional details on the root cause of the failure. The park has resumed its normal operations, ensuring that families can enjoy a full day of attractions, dining, and entertainment.
Though the outage caused some frustration for park visitors, Disney’s quick response and ability to restore service so quickly was a relief. Moving forward, Magic Kingdom is expected to run smoothly, and Disney will continue to monitor operations to ensure that similar disruptions do not occur in the future.
