Have you ever been to Grand Floridian Cafe? If you’re like the vast majority of Disney goers, the answer is probably “no”. This is unfortunate because this little cafe is truly a hidden gem and an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of Disney World. If you’ll be going to Disney World in the near future we highly recommend making a stop at Grand Floridian Cafe. Here are eight reasons why.
1. On the Monorail Line
Disney World is a huge place. In fact, the whole resort is bigger than Manhattan! This means getting from point A to point B can take some time. Fortunately, Disney has a fantastic transportation system to help guests get around, and one of the best modes of transportation (in terms of efficiency) is the monorail. For this reason, if you choose to visit the three amazing resort hotels along the monorail line, you’ll have a super easy time reaching your destination. Grand Floridian Resort is one of those convenient monorail resorts, and since Grand Floridian Cafe is located inside, it’s a super handy lunch stop that gets you out of the super-stimulating park environment without requiring you to travel for a long period of time.
2. Beautiful Views
Grand Floridian Cafe boasts some seriously amazing floor-to-ceiling windows. This means there is tons of natural light entering the dining room during the day, and it also means guests are treated to some spectacular views of the Grand Floridian gardens. These awesome views are wonderful for those who wish to truly relax and enjoy themselves during meal time.
3. Easy to Reserve
Getting a table at a table-service restaurant in Disney World usually requires making reservations days—sometimes even months!—in advance. However, there are a few lesser-known locations that can take same-day reservations, and sometimes even walk-ups. Grand Floridian Cafe is one of those laid-back, walk-up locations. This is not because the restaurant is bad in any way, but rather because people simply don’t know about it and therefore don’t know to make a reservation.

4. Relaxed, Yet Elegant
Going to a sit-down restaurant is always nice when you’ve been living off of chicken nuggets and burgers. That said, sometimes you just want good food, good service, nice decor, but still a more relaxed vibe. Fortunately, there are places to get this combination throughout Walt Disney World Resort, and Grand Floridian Cafe is one of them. The beautiful Victorian theming of Grand Floridian Resort does carry over into the cafe, and the food is just as good here as most other table-service eateries. However, the friendly, chatty waitstaff makes it very clear that they want you to be relaxed and comfortable. If that isn’t enough to convince you, the casual attire of your fellow guests should be. Relax and enjoy your meal without sacrificing any elegance at all.
5. Memorable Entrees
One would think that this restaurant might be lesser known because the food is less than memorable. Fortunately, this is far from the truth. The entrees at this lovely cafe are top-notch, easily competing with the food at most other Disney eateries. Whether you’re looking for an amazing pasta dish, a steak, or some sort of seafood, this restaurant has something for you, and they truly do it all well.
6. Amazing Service
The aforementioned friendly service at this restaurant is seriously spectacular. The waitstaff is attentive and helpful without being overbearing. Meanwhile, the kitchen staff is truly great at what they do, introducing interesting dishes while perfecting old favorites. When eating at Grand Floridian Cafe, you’re sure to feel well cared for from the moment you walk in the door.
7. Lovely Resort
As we mentioned earlier, this cafe is located in the Grand Floridian Resort. This is a resort that is truly worth a visit even if you’re not already staying there. The lobby is incredibly grand, leaving you feeling as though you’re walking through a Victorian mansion. There is shopping available inside of the resort, and beautiful gardens for guests to enjoy as they stroll the grounds. Additionally, if you visit during Christmas time, this resort holds a life-sized gingerbread house that is truly a sight to behold. Be sure to make time to walk around this gorgeous hotel before your meal!
8. Well Priced
You’d think that when visiting a hotel as spectacular as the Grand Floridian, you’d be paying a pretty penny to eat. This is true for those who choose to visit 1900 Park Fare, but for diners at Grand Floridian Cafe, prices are actually quite reasonable by Disney standards. Don’t go in expecting fast food prices, but you can definitely save some money by eating here rather than one of the more popular table-service food stops.
We hope you’ll give Grand Floridian Cafe a try! While we love that fact that this eatery is rarely busy, we also love the idea of sharing such a wonderful meal stop with other Disney enthusiasts who wish to try something new.
