If you’re familiar at all with the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, you’ve probably heard about Cinderella’s Royal Table—the restaurant inside Cinderella Castle that doubles as the most sought after place to eat in all of the Disney World Resort. But it’s so darn hard to get a reservation! Have no fear! There’s another extraordinary princess dining experience that takes place in an elegant regal setting deep inside EPCOT. It’s the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and it has all the charm and wonder of any princess dining experience at Disney! You haven’t tried it yet? Well here are 8 reasons you should—you’ll love it!

8. The Setting

Velkommen til Norge! (That’s “Welcome to Norway” in Norwegian.) That’s one of the things to love about eating at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall—it’s in the Norway pavilion on the World Showcase at EPCOT, so not only are you about to enjoy a meal of authentic Norwegian fare, but the Viking feel is all around you! It’s a beautiful thing.

7. The Royal Treatment

When you walk into the banquet hall, you are taken aback by the regal look and feel to everything around you. Hosts and Hostesses are waiting to take your name so you and your family can be seated  at your table. Before you’re seated, you are taken to an area to meet a princess and get her autograph. It is usually Belle, which is wonderful! From the way you’re greeted by Cast Members when you first enter the restaurant, to the way you’re served during your meal, you’ll feel like royalty yourself!

6. Meet and Greet a Princess

One of the very first things you’ll get to experience when you dine at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is a meet and greet with a lovely princess. (When my family and I went, it was Belle, and from others’ accounts, it seems that the princess you meet is often—if not always—Belle.) Wait in a short line to meet her, pose for photos taken by a PhotoPass Photographer and even ask her to sign your autograph book.

5. The Decorative Architecture

The architecture inside Akershus is definitely fit for royalty! From beautiful arches and high ceilings to long windows that allow in natural light during the day, there’s gorgeousness all around you. The stone and brick columns and walls add a regal touch to the banquet hall. There’s even a castle chamber—a charming small dining room that sits somewhat recessed from the rest of the dining area.

4. Breakfast

In the morning, you can join the princesses for an all-you-care-to-enjoy royal breakfast. Choose from eggs and sausage to potato casserole and bacon. Or try salami, roasted turkey or Norwegian cheeses.

3. Lunch and dinner

If you dine at Akershus for lunch or dinner, you will get to sample “A Taste of Norway”—a delectable spread of Scandinavian seafood, cheeses, cured meats, salads and fruits. Then you can choose from an array on entrees, including salmon, seafood stew, chicken breast, stuffed pasta, pork shank and more.

2. The Princesses

At Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, the most exciting part of the experience is meeting all the princesses. Though they are subject to change, you can usually meet Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora and Ariel. The princesses visit with Guests at their tables (except for Belle who greets you before your meal), sign autographs and pose for pictures. Sometimes, they even call for all the little princes and princesses to join them on a Princess Parade!

1. The Attraction Next Door

Ok, so this isn’t part of Akershus, but it can be part of your amazing experience! Be sure to get a FastPass+ time to enjoy the Frozen Ever After attraction next door to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. You’ll see two more royal ladies during this fun family journey aboard a Norwegian vessel. Princess Anna and Queen Elsa are there, along with Kristoff, Sven and of course, the lovable Olaf.

What a great time you’ll have at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall with your family! Don’t miss the opportunity to have this fabulous experience! Book your dining reservation via the My Disney Experience app or by calling (407) WDW-DINE up to 180 days before your trip!
