8 Things You’ll Love About Sanaa At Walt Disney World

Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite Disney Resorts. It is so unique and rich and magical. Its restaurants are, too. There are so many things to love about this beautiful dining choice, but here are 8 things I think you’ll love about Sanaa:

1. The Flavors

Sanaa invites you to step inside an East-African spice market with Indian flair. These are flavors that most people have never experienced before so it can be a bit of a culture shock. But once you settle into it, you’ll realize the richness and fullness of these flavors and never want to go back. From chutneys with Indian bread to hummus to Durban shrimp to the South African wine and Kenyan beer accompaniments, your taste buds will never be bored.

2. The Views

The coolest factor of Sanaa is its views. Unlike any other restaurant on Disney property, the view from Sanaa’s dining room is of the savanna. While you enjoy your hummus and bread, you can watch giraffes sauntering by on their way to dinner themselves. Or some cranes being silly by the window. But you never really know who you’ll see, as there are over 200 birds and animals that live at Animal Kingdom Lodge. So make sure to keep an eye out between courses!

3. The DĂ©cor

My favorite thing about Animal Kingdom Lodge is its décor, and Sanaa is no exception. From its ornate carved pillars to its textured cushions to its rich colors, Sanaa provides not only a great meal but also a feast for the senses. I love that everywhere you look in this restaurant is beautiful. Whether you look outside or at the ceiling or even the table next to you, you can see how much work and love went into every detail.

4. The Location

Animal Kingdom Lodge is incredibly expansive, mostly due to the vast savanna in its backyard. But what’s really nice about this is that there is plenty of room for guests to spread out and relax. I love that Sanaa is away from the main Lodge building and is kind of in its own oasis: Kidani Village. Kidani Village is one of the Animal Kingdom Lodge villas and holds its own. The villas are a great way to get away from the bustle, but still have the magic and extravagance of the main building.

5. Price

One of the big draws for Sanaa is that it remains a high quality dining experience, without the bill you might get at Jiko. I definitely wouldn’t go all the way to saying that Sanaa is a cheap meal, but it is reasonable for Disney standards. And because it is in the lower price bracket, it can also be a more casual dining experience, while still being a great one.

6. No Reservation Breakfasts

Most high-quality Disney restaurants require reservations for everything, including breakfasts – but not Sanaa. Before a long day in the Parks guests can make their way down to the savanna for a quick serve meal with real, unique African flavors. Sanaa is dedicated to great food and easy accessibility.

7. Dine With Animal Specialists

A really cool added feature to Sanaa is the opportunity to dine with a Disney animal specialist. For an extra fee you can sit down to a four-course meal – more like a feast – overlooking the savanna. At this time you can ask the specialists anything you want about the animals you’re watching and the process of taking care of them at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After the meal, you get an up-close look at the radiated tortoises too!

8. Sanaa Lounge

The Sanaa Lounge is a great addition to this section of the restaurant. It’s essentially a mini version of Sanaa for a more laid back, relaxed dining experience. The Lounge still has all of the great views and atmosphere, but has less on its menu and is more for hanging out. If you want to try some amazing African wines or beers with maybe a light appetizer, The Sanaa Lounge is for you.
